Chabad Students and Parents Enjoy Creative Model Seder

Rabbi Pesach Burston, who co-directs Chabad Hebrew School with his wife, Chana, leads the Chabad Hebrew School model Seder. With student Ben Horowitz, 9, he recites the special blessing recited on matza at the Passover Seder.

GOSHEN, NY [CHI] — The students at the Chabad Hebrew School, directed by Rabbi Pesach and Chana Burston held an interactive “Model Seder” for both students and parents in Chabad’s Goshen location. “The Seder is full of traditions, stories and observances and it’s important for parents to learn how to conduct a Seder in their own home” says Chana Burston. Her husband, Rabbi Pesach, led the model Seder wearing a “matzo pattered tie!”

Chabad Youth leaders Dassie Levilov and Shayna Witkes added exciting elements to the program. Students received “matza money” for excellent participation, and afterward used the money at the “Ten Plague Store”. Historically, ten plagues were inflicted on the Egyptians when they refused to release the Jewish nation to freedom. Kids enjoyed purchasing toys relating to the plagues, such as sunglasses for the plague of darkness, and toy frogs for the plague of the frogs.

The Chabad Hebrew School has over sixty students and offers classes in both Monroe and Goshen. For more info on Chabad Hebrew School, call 782-2770 or www.ChabadOrange.com.
