  • Wondering

    Special relationship?

Did they meet more than once (as seen in above photo) after leaving Europe?

In the above photo It looks like Rav Soloveitchik is more happy at the meeting than the Rebbe, based on facial expressions and how he is holding the Rebb’s hand.

  • YU coming closer to Chasidus

They now have a mashpia at YU (just in the last few months), Rabbi Moshe Weinberger from Woodmere, who is a real friend of Lubavitch and the Rebbe, and is teaching Chasidus all the time. He goes to the Rebbe at the Ohel regularly. Real hafotzas hamayonos, being mekarev Modern Orthodox to Chasidus. Its about time the Litvaks there gave up the game and became Chasidim.

While Rabbi Weinberger is making great strides spreading Chasidus there, it is still not enough. There is so much work to do, and besides, although he is an admirer of the Rebbe, he also is connected to Poylishe Rebbes as well.

They should establish a f/t Chabad House on campus there to help bring them closer to the Rebbe.

    Didon notzach!

  • Off the derech

    Ok, people, stop your ignorance:

#1. A frum non-chabad person is not always a “litvak.” YU hashkafa has as much in common with litvaks as it does with chassidus.

#2. We don’t need to bring “litvaks” “closer to the Rebbe.” Instead we need to bring people closer to the Eibishter.

#3. Obviously the Rebbe did not have a very significant relationship with the Rav. But this is a good excuse to promote a Chabad event on campus.

    Good Shabbos!

The Rav did have a special relationship with the Rebbe.
Whenever the Rav wrote a note to the Rebbe, the Mazkirim gave it the utmost attention.
(BTW: A least one of these notes, was handwritten, and the envelope just said “Menachem”)
And when anytime that any of the Rebbe’s secretaries visited Boston, there were directed to visit the Rav.
When the Rav came to the Rebbe at the farbrengen, as soon as he saw the Rav, the Rebbe stood up!. Obviously, then everyone also stood up. How many time did the Rebbe stand for a guest at a farbrengen?
I am not a student the Rav, but the Rav visited the Rebbe at least 2 more times. Shiva for the Rebbe’s mother, and shiva for the Rebbitzen’s mother’s shiva.
Please, Brisk is NOT Lubavitch, and the Rav was not the Rebbe, and differed with a few issues. But don’t try to place a wedge between the 100 years of cooperation and friendship between the Briskers and the Lubavitchers.

    • You Are Confused

What Boston? The Rav lived in NY since 1941.

What Brisk? Do you even know what YU hashkafa is all about?

      Get a clue.

To #1: The Rav also came to be Menachem Aveil The Rebbe after the Rebbetzin was nifteres. You can hear the audio of their conversation on chabad.org.

The Rav never lived in New York. He always lived in Boston and came to New York to give the shiur. He gave shiur in New York since 1941 the year his father Rav Moshe passed away.
