Where, What and When? Parade FAQs Answered
With the parade less than two days away, many are wondering where to go or sit, where will the stage be, and where Hatzalah or the bathrooms will be. CrownHeights.info worked together with the parade organizers to put together a host of information which should answer all your questions.
In the extended Article you will find maps for the Parade and the Fair, as well as information for where busses should be going, and where the entrances are for boys and for girls.
Please read the instructions below before planning your arrival to the Parade.
Pedestrian Arrivals
1. Kingston Avenue from President Street to Eastern Parkway will be closed to all pedestrian traffic.
2. Boy schools are to arrive through Albany Avenue (Oholei Torah should walk on the Northern side of Eastern Parkway till Kingston, and then enter their zone).
3. Girls schools, Chabad Houses and Community Groups should all arrive through Brooklyn Avenue.
The NYPD asked that all pedestrians walking to the Parade area should please stay on the far side of Brooklyn – avoiding disturbing the service of other houses of worship (corner of Union Street).
A detailed map including seating zones, marching time and program can be downloaded at the bottom of this article.
Buses
All buses should drive down the Northern service road (coming from Troy Avenue), only Parade Buses and 15 passenger vans will be allowed passed Albany Avenue.
Boy’s only groups: Buses drop kids off at corner of Kingston Avenue, Girls and Chabad House groups, Special Needs Groups and all Preschools: Drop off at the corner of Brooklyn Avenue.
After they drop off the children they make a left on Brooklyn and continue to Nostrand Avenue and make a left, at Rutland Ave.
Parking will be available in the parking lot of Wingate High School, located on Kingston Avenue between Rutland Road and Winthrop Street. You will also be meeting your bus there after the Parade/Fair.
BUSES WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE PARADE AREA UNTILL 10:00am SHARP, ANY BUS COMING AFTER THAT WILL BE DIRECTED TO ST. JOHNS, AND THE CHILDREN WILL UNFORTUNATELY HAVE TO WALK UP TO EASTERN PARKWAY FROM THERE.
PSA: There will be NO PARKING on both service lanes on EP from Albany till Brooklyn, from 11pm after Shabbos, through Sunday after 3pm. No parking will also be enforced on Albany Ave. from Eastern Parkway till East New York Avenue from 7am Sunday till 7pm and the same applies to East New York Avenue between Albany and Brooklyn Avenues.
