Model Matzah Bakery Brings Pesach to Life at Oholei Torah Preschool

The students at Oholei Torah Preschool were given the unique opportunity to experience Pesach in a way they will never forget, thanks to the incredible efforts of Morah Mushky Sanowicz. Through a hands-on Model Matzah Bakery, Pesach came to life, as the children were guided through every step of the matzah-making process.

The journey began with the children participating in the threshing of wheat, just as it was done in ancient times. They then watched as the wheat was milled into flour, learning the process of grinding grain into the essential ingredient for matzah.

From there, it was time for the children to make the dough themselves, rolling and kneading it, before punching holes in the dough – a key step in ensuring the matzah doesn’t rise. Finally, the children received their baked matzahs, creating a sense of pride and accomplishment.

The creativity didn’t stop with the baking of matzah. In addition to the hands-on matzah-making experience, the preschoolers participated in a Makos demonstration, learning in a fun and interactive way. To further enhance their understanding, the children took part in a Kriyas Yam Suf walk-through, where they symbolically crossed through the parted sea with sacks of matzah on their backs.

One parent shared their excitement after seeing photos of the event:
“I just had to share how absolutely blown away I am by the pictures of the Model Matzah Bakery!! I love how the boys are so involved in every step, grinding the wheat, walking out of Mitzrayim through ‘Kriyas Yam Suf’ with the matzah in sacks on their backs, really bringing Pesach to life for our precious children! The thought, creativity, and effort that went into this are evident in every detail, and I cannot thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication. I know this experience will stay with them for years to come. Thank you, Morahs, and Morah Mushky for everything you do to make learning so special and impactful for our kids.”

Thanks to a thoughtful and innovative approach to teaching, the children of Oholei Torah Preschool gained not only knowledge but a personal connection to the story of Pesach that will resonate with them for years to come.
