Chanukah Joy Brought to Kids in Moscow Hospitals
This year, for the first time ever, Chanukah Parties were arranged in Moscow hospitals for children with various diagnoses. There is no doubt that the Chanukah joy brought to them by the community cheered them up, helping them in this difficult period in their young lives.
This was a project of the Moscow Bikur Cholim, with help from the Lev LaYeladim organization which runs under the auspices of the Shaarey Tzedek Chesed Center of Moscow, an initiative of chief Rabbi of Russia, Berel Lazar, which helps any Jew who is needy.
The Chanukah parties took place in spacious rooms that the hospital administration graciously opened for this purpose. They began with an explanation about the relevance of this holiday in our times, and continued with a festive lighting of the menorah. Of course, doughnuts and other kosher treats and prizes followed.
A special guest was brought in who entertained the children and their parents with a light show as well as Jewish music. The doctors and hospital staff expressed their great respect and admiration for this blessed initative.
