Boruch Dayan Hoemes: Mr. Henry Abramowitz, 97, OBM

With sadness we inform you of the passing of Mr. Henry (Chanoch) Abramowitz OBM, a devoted father and grandfather, and a holocaust survivor. He was 97 years old.

As a child during the holocaust, he survived the concentration camps in Lodz, Birkenau, Warsaw and Dachau. His faith in Hashem kept him alive. Even with all his challenges and struggles – he never compromised on his Yiddishkeit, and even lost many jobs because he wouldn’t work on Shabbos.

Although he grew up an orphan, he instilled a love of yiddishkeit in his daughters, so that they too, went on to raise Yiddishe families.

The great grandchildren would love to visit, couldn’t wait to get a piece of his cake and some chocholate.

He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Tova Friedman (Flatbush, NY), Mrs. Rachel Bronchtai (Crown Heights), and Mrs. Goldie Lerman (Crown Heights).

He is predeceased by his wife Frayda Abramowitz, who passed away 15 years ago.

The levaya will take place today, Sunday, 12:00pm at Shomrei Hadas. Kevurah will be in Israel.

Shiva will be observed in Flatbush immediately following the Levaya 1902 Ave L Apt 2A. Shiva will be observed in Crown Heights, tomorrow, Monday 12:30-1:30 at 1592 Carroll st.
