We are pleased to report that as of 4:30 this morning Yakov has been found and is doing fine. It turns out that he just wanted to take a break from a long summer of hard work, and impulsively decided to leave for a few days vacation. He will return to Crown Heights in the near future.

Missing French Twin Found

We are pleased to report that as of 4:30 this morning Yakov has been found and is doing fine. It turns out that he just wanted to take a break from a long summer of hard work, and impulsively decided to leave for a few days vacation. He will return to Crown Heights in the near future.

Original Story:

The NYPD and Shomrim volunteers are searching for Yakov Gourin, 23, after his twin reported to police that he has been missing for 18 hours. Yakov’s married twin brother, Yisroel, became concerned after Yakov failed to show up for a scheduled performance, and had not made any contact with him – something which had never happened before.

He was last seen at 11:00pm last night. His vehicle, a 1993 ford Econoline license plate number EWV2533, is missing as well.

If you have any information that may lead to his whereabouts, please contact Shomrim at 718-774-3333.

Update 7:48 PM: Yakov has still not been found, but was possibly seen at 1:00pm today in Boro Park. This sighting has not been confirmed, and is the source of some false reports and rumors.

Our information has been confirmed by the police department, who have filed a missing person’s report and are coordinating with Shomrim to try and locate him.

CrownHeights.info has also confirmed this information with Yisroel Gourin, Yakov’s twin brother, who says he has absolutely no idea where other sources have gotten their information from.

Update: 8:01 PM: The story seems to have an interesting twist:

We have obtained information that Yakov has with him a significant amount of money and his passport.

We will continue to update this story with verified information as it unfolds.

Update: 8:52 PM: We remain in constant contact with the Shomrim search team, the NYPD and his brother Yisroel. No confirmed contact has yet been made with Yakov since last night.

Update: 9:49 PM: Sources have confirmed that Yakov was indeed seen in Boro Park at 1:00pm today. He has not been seen or heard from since.

We have obtained a photo of the vehicle in which Yakov was last seen. It is a 1993 Ford Econoline mini-bus; the license plate number is EWV2533.

If you see this vehicle please immediately notify the police or Shomrim at 718-774-3333.

    Apparently it was a misunderstanding, he didn’t answer his phone & his car was in the shop. Well, that’s what I’m now reading on Facebook via another website. Do I know if it’s true? No, but they’re quoting his twin as of just after 6:00 PM. I hope it’s true. Shomrim should be able to find out.

    All jokes aside it might be time for the twins to take a short break from jumping,twirling,twisting and flying in the air. It might be getting somewhat unhealthy at this point and G-d Forbid affect their brains. So time out is a very good idea, but next time Yaakov wants a break he should do it without getting us all sooo worried! Hatzlocho Rabba you boys. Enjoy your time out!

    When a responsible person needs time off, they make that clear to their business relations and family.

    I’m guessing (as a psych nurse) that he had a “meltdown” of some sort. This behavior deviates far from the norm and as previous posters have remarked, cell phones are everywhere and professional that he is, it doesn’t ring true that he ‘didn;t know’ about the performance.
    If it was just to ‘show’ his brother a thing or two, or a foolish lapse of judgement….that’s fine, but I’d hope that if he does have any issues, he would seek help from a qualified, professional clinician.

    Thankfully he is O.K. This sound like a private issue between family members. He does not owe the community an explanation. I just wish him well and hope that he and his brother work things out. It is not easy to be in business with family and it is par for the course that every so often somebody will experience some major upset. Wishing the Twins the best.
