Police say a neighbor on Wilshire Drive complained of smoke Friday morning. According to police, they found a school bus equipped with an oven, fans, an exhaust pipe and supplies. Police say the bus had been operating as an oven for almost three years. The house where the school bus is parked is owned by the congregation Midtzar Hatorah.

Some neighbors in the mostly Hassidic community say the school bus oven isn’t kosher – literally. There were live gas lines in the bus and police say if something went wrong it could have been catastrophic.
Police say the school bus oven has been disconnected and the owners will be fined by the building department.

Why wouldn’t the oven be kosher? Why would gas lines into a non-functional bus be any more dangerous than gas lines into any other building or structure? They used the oven for a few years without incident. It sounds at best like a big story about nothing, at worst it has the smell of a “blood libel”.

Was that whole thing taped on shabbos? yikes! I guess the whole thing kinda turned out to be persumei nissa and a big chillul hashem all mushed together. (Wether it was meant to be either or not!) In the future I hope ppl put a bit more thought into such things!

This was going on for 3 years. The neighbours all must have known. So, I ask – who tipped off the cops? (And, more importantly, why? – Who stands to gain from shutting down this “bakery”?)

The woman from the CH bakery, now Parnassah-less, found this great job in a bus-bakery. And some law-abiding, concerned citizens (shame!) blew the lid off the story. Actually, they nearly blew the lid off the whole area! Poor woman…no Mazal!! :-)

Actually visited the bus bakery
Actual story: Nothing happened. The bus is different. It’s not unsafe, it’s not illegal, it’s not unkosher. The fact a stupid shiksa news reorter named Antionette Biordi asked a stupid question does not changed the facts. NO Summons was issued, no fine was issued no ticket was issued, no violation notice was issued. The bus was back in operation the next day after the plans were shown to the inspector. He asked that the bus be moved 10 feet from the house (structure) for next year. It’s currently 4 feet from the edge of the porch, 20 feet from the actual house. The chillul hashem was caused by Jews who massered and called a TV station to do a story about nothing. but nothing doesn’t get attention. when you say “it could have blown up all these houses”, it had an active gas line“, ”the bakery isn’t even kosher“, ”it could have been catastrophic” NOW THAT’S NEWS! The only problem is none of that is true. The idiots couldn’t even get the address right.
