Students Vote for Heros to Light Menorah

Today, Thursday December 13th, Hillel day school of North Miami Beach had a beautiful Chanukah lighting ceremony. There were over 1500 students and staff at the event.

The honorees for the event were Rabbi S.B. Lipskar of The Shul of Bal Harbour, Rosh Lowe, reporter from channel 7, Chaplain Yakov Goldstein, Andres Cantor the foremost voice for soccer on Telemundo, and Israel Sachs, author and holocaust survivor.

The Hillel Day School had a month long campaign in preparation for Chanukah where each student had to write about a hero who has brought light into their lives and the world. To end our campaign we invited the above personalities to light our schools Menorah which represent our Jewish heroes who bring light into the world.

We celebrated with performances by our ECE students, choir, and strings program.

Hillel Jewish day school is the nation’s only Jewish day school to receive the Blue Ribbon school of excellence award in 2011, and Florida’s first Jewish International Baccalaureate World School.
