After 40 Days of Restrictions, The Western Wall Returns to Full Activity

Following an extended period during which gathering restrictions were imposed at the Western Wall Plaza, this morning (Thursday), with the change in defense policy and updated Home Front Command guidelines, the Western Wall prayer plaza has returned to full activity.

From the early morning hours, thousands of worshippers have been streaming to the Western Wall Plaza, after a prolonged period in which entry was limited to just 50 worshippers at any given time.

The many worshippers are offering prayers of thanksgiving for the miracles, alongside prayers for the wellbeing of IDF soldiers and security forces, for the recovery of the wounded, and for the peace and security of the State of Israel.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation notes that the tefillin-laying station at the entrance to the men’s section, as well as the Western Wall Tunnels sites, have also reopened for the benefit of visitors. Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites: “It is moving to see the Jewish nation, in all its diversity, once again streaming to the Western Wall Plaza – the beating heart of the Jewish people – after an extended period of restrictions. We invite the entire public to return and visit this holy site, to offer prayers, and to explore the Western Wall Tunnels as well. The return of thousands expresses, more than anything, the deep need that became evident during the days of fighting to allow for an expansion in the number of worshippers, carried out responsibly and within an appropriate framework, for the benefit of the public.”
