CHJCC Is Clearing Snow — Caring for Crown Heights This Winter
This winter’s snowfall and freezing temperatures have made getting around Crown Heights especially difficult. Snow and ice at street corners can turn everyday routines into real challenges, especially for children, seniors, parents with strollers, and neighbors using wheelchairs.
From the first major snowfall last week, CHJCC began organizing snow removal in coordination with NYC. As conditions evolved and it became clear that the cold would persist and snow would not melt quickly, action was needed to keep our streets safe.
The City has cleared several intersections, and we are thankful for those efforts. At the same time, with municipal resources stretched thin, CHJCC is actively clearing snow today at all street corners from Eastern Parkway to Lefferts Avenue, and from Troy Avenue to New York Avenue, with special attention to creating safe, passable paths for strollers, wheelchairs, and pedestrians.
These corners are essential for daily life. Community support helps us keep them safe for everyone.
If you are able to help, your support makes a real difference and allows this work to continue.

“This is about caring for our neighbors,” said Shmuly Rosenstein, Acting Chairman of CHJCC. “When families, seniors, and those with mobility challenges are affected, we come together to help.”
A heartfelt thank you to Zalman Friedman for making this effort possible.
We’re grateful to be part of a community that looks out for one another. We’re all hoping for warmer weather soon — and until then, CHJCC will continue caring for Crown Heights with the same commitment and heart.
