Tonight, the Third Night, We Honor Rabbi Nochum Pinson

Eight Nights. Eight Leaders. One Community.

Chanukah celebrates the light that brave and devoted individuals bring into the world. Each night, we honor a leader whose work strengthened Crown Heights and helped shape the mission of the CHJCC. Their impact continues to illuminate our community today.

Tonight, the Third Night, We Honor Rabbi Nochum Pinson

Rabbi Nochum Pinson was a driving force behind the CHJCC in its earliest days, a leader with energy, presence, and a deep sense of responsibility for Crown Heights. He championed families who needed help navigating benefits, housing, and government support, pushing systems forward and ensuring people received the assistance they were entitled to.

He stood at the center of many inter-community challenges, confronting them head-on with strength and conviction. Rabbi Pinson worked tirelessly to protect the honor of Crown Heights, bridge divides, and make sure the community’s voice was respected at every level.

And his dedication stretched long into the night. Even with a young family at home, he would return in the evening, take a quick bite, and head back out. Determined that no one in the community be left without help.
Tonight, we honor Rabbi Nochum Pinson; a leader of action, a builder of community, and a man whose determination continues to guide the work of the CHJCC.
