Say goodbye to the old Crown Heights Jewish Community Council storefront on Kingston Ave that has been serving the community for 50 years. Signs have gone up at the future location for the council and its services.

“New home of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council,” the sign on the former home of the Kamin Health Urgent Care reads. “We look forward to serving you with a smile.”

Located at 555 Lefferts Ave, on the corner of Kingston Ave, the central location is well-suited for the new council offices, with brightly lit office space and lobby already built in.

A new and modern office location was one of the central focuses of the new Vaad Hakohol elected to the position last year. According to a press release from the Vaad, painting at the new location is underway, and is slated to open next month.

“We are really excited about this move — marking a significant upgrade in our capacity to serve the community. We look forward to being able to better to have clients seen in this bigger and nicer location,” said Shmuel Rosenstein, Chairman of the CHJCC, reflecting the enthusiasm shared by both leadership and residents.

The Community Council offers all services free of charge, assisting residents with SNAP, SCRIE, Medicaid, HEAP, and other benefits, as well as Crime Victim Services, Housing, Crisis Intervention, Green Card and Citizenship applications, and Weatherization Assistance.

To make an appointment for service, call 718-771-9000 Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm and on Fridays until noon.
