Upgrades Proposed For Eastern Parkway Bus Stop Between Schenectady Ave and Ralph Ave

newyorkyimby.com

The New York City Department of Transportation has proposed ADA-compliant upgrades along Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Work between Schenectady and Ralph Avenues will include redesigned B14 bus stop areas at Utica and Buffalo Avenues and new pedestrian ramps to improve accessibility. The upgrades will use smooth granite and hexagonal pavers with detectable warning surfaces, and involve collaboration between NYC DOT and NYC Parks.

As part of the plan, current informal and inaccessible B14 bus stops will be formalized and relocated to the southern pedestrian malls. The stop at Rochester Avenue will be eliminated, while new ADA-compliant stops will be established at Utica Avenue and Buffalo Avenue. To create space for passenger loading, one recently planted tree will be relocated, and areas of grass will be replaced with granite pavers. ADA ramps will also be added to connect the northern pedestrian malls at key intersections.
