KSCVK’s 1st Annual Dinner a Major Success
The first annual Keren Simchas Chosson V’Kallah awards dinner took place on Motzoai Shabbos, October 20th 2012, Hey Cheshvan 5773, with almost four hundred people attendance. The dinner celebrated KSCVK’s founder Devorah Benjamin’s Ruby birthday.
Mrs. Benjamin was given the lifetime achievement award for her continuous efforts in assisting young couples with their weddings. Presenting the awards was KSCVK’s co-director Shmuly Brashevitzky.
The Chessed award was given to NYPD officer Shimon Strauss for his long time support of KSCVK. Other honorees included Chaim Moshe Jacobson of the Young Leadership committee, who came in full force to show their support. Finally, the Hakoras Hatov Award was given to Rabbi Shmuel Lew.
Rabbi Lipa Brennan chaired the evening. The entertainment included Yossi Cohen Orchestra, Choni Zuker and Chazzon Dovid Caytak.
One of the highlights of the evening was the video presentation produced by Moishe Lew and Mendel Katzman of young couple, Baruch and Zehava Arky’s journey to the chuppah with the assistance of Devorah Benjamin.
A special thank you goes to Moshe Frank, chairman of the Young Leadership Committee, for his efforts in making this evening possible.

This is great mitzvah and there is nothing wrong with helping them out
But people need to understand that our schools come first
Why dont we have dinners for our locals schools? why dont we have the entire community to come together and support our schools?
Support your local school and pay full tuition before giving a penny to any other organization – our teachers need to get paid and our children need teachers who can focus on the work and their students and now how they will feed their children!
A Shoyteh
Chassidim were farbrengen with Reb Aizik Homlier, and they ran out of mashkeh. So they passed around a hat for a collection. When the hat came close to the end, one participant peered inside and said “Such a nice amount of money – we should give it to tzedaka.”
All eyes turned to Reb Aizik who responded with a nod. So, they then passed the hat around again. The same thing happened. After the 3rd time, Reb Aizik said “Yeh, ober koydem shikt arois dem shoyteh.” {Yes, but first send the shoyteh out.“}
With all due respects, #1, there is no true chassidishe pikeyach now, to say that – and if there was he would probably be on the ”outside” – so who would listen.
[Some say this story was with Reb Hillel, but that was just not his nature.]
Your Neighbor
Dear Board member,
Get a life!
Signed,

P.S. Devorah Benjamin should have many years of goodness and kindness for all the goodness and kindness that she gives out.

By the time you’ve paid tuition for KA”H your kids, you won’t have anything left for weddings. Let’s see how you manage in 15 years time. I bet you’ll be crying to Devorah and will need her help. That’s what hundreds of hardworking Crown Heights families have had to do.

#1 stop complaining…Yes every mosdos is special and needs money. If our mosdos would raise funds like KSCK does then they wouldn’t be in debt….vedal
In the Parshah
I think this is a very worthy cause. From the pictures it looks like way too much money was spent on making the dinner fancy. Covered chairs, and over the top decor for a charities dinner? Come on! The money spent would have been better served, serving the needy.
Mazel tov, Devorah. You are the engine that runs this Tzedakah!

Way to go, Devorah Benjamin!

your point is well taken
but rain on the parade what devorah benjamin des is great and it helps our schools as well by helping all people including those that teach in our schools.
your point can be a oped on its own. and then have people discuss the merits
int his article we should only heap praise on what teh benjamins do
they saw a need in our community and devote their lifes to it
duvid
Tuition comes first. Period.
happy
to #1 #9 she dos what she needs for her org. and the yeshivas should do what they need for their org. and if im going to give out MY money i will give it out how i feel.everything is important the head needs the feet ect ect
to # 6
actually when kscvk makes any event they DO NOT spend a lot of money on the set up. It looks beautiful and that is most probably y you think they spent a lot but i have been behind the scenes and they ABSOLUTELY DID NOT SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON THE SET UP. Before you judge or come to conclusions it would be wise to ask someone involved how much they spent rather then bad mouthing that they spent a lot of money when they really did not

the tragedy that we face in c.h is that we argue over everything even something as great as KSCVK. what has happened to us?

Nobody was knocking her, and yes you can do what you want with your money after you pay your bills in full
its about time people stop getting breaks for their tuition
most parents are asking for breaks while giving out their money to everyone else.
pay your full tuition and then you can do what you want with your money
please reply
How about the schools open their books and give us all a full accounting? I would like to know how those that sit at ‘the shissel’ get to buy themselves and their children homes and summer homes?
Devorah does a phenominal job. EVERYONE benefits..whether though KSCVK or her simply helping out at our simchos so we can enjoy!!!
LIVING WAY BELOW THE POVERTY LINE
Um… This comment is only strictly to those complaining about the tuition not being paid. What about those many parents who do pay full tuition, but the teachers are not paid for months and months, anyways.
Yet, just take a look around you at those in hanholo positions. It doesn’t look like they are feeling the pinch nor does it seem like they are struggling.
Not only do they live in big fancy homes, drive the latest model cars, but somehow, so do their kids! How does that work? How is that happening??!!
You’re complaining about parents who don’t pay tuition?! I say there is lots of money that doesn’t make it to the school altogether!
Reminds me of all the socialist, communist and dictatorship governments who keep the money for themselves! UGH!
KSCVK IS WONDERFUL
# 1 Why are you hassling people when they give tzedokoh? Especially to and organization that is critical for the entire community? Including the teachers of the schools you are worried about? Question people on their vacations, expensive homes, cars, summers, restaurants… Movies, Bars, shows… That’s where tuition should preceed!

Way to go . Wishing you lots of success with you’re cause , it is a great one .
To #1 , we would not have a problem helping out our yeshivas and schools if they would be highering the proper mechanchim to teach our children , and not what we have now ,sceaming /yelling inpatient teachers who can’t teach . Let alone a board that never listens to what the parents are saying . (Montreal schools )
In this org.the money is well spend and for a great cause . In our schools they just want our money and you have no say .
Devorah , you should always have lots of hatzlocho
We LOVE THE BENJAMINS
