New Benches Installed on Kingston Ave.

The New York City Department of Transportation installed several brand-new stainless-steel benches on Kingston Ave.

While many were pleased with the new benches, and the opportunity they provide to sit down and relax amid a hectic shopping schedule, others were more critical.

At least one local shopkeeper expressed concerns with the new benches, saying that they would likely become hot-spots for undesirable elements, including: panhandling, littering and vandalism.

    Great! Now I can go to Post Mark It and buy a cup of coffee and danish, and sit down on the bench to eat and drink.

    IF YOU DONT NEED THE BENCH DONT SIT ON IT, WHY COMPLAIN??? I CAN VERY WELL USE IT TO HAVE MY MORNING COFFEE ON THE WAY TO WORK. BY THE WAY IF SOME ONE HAS SOME EXTRA $ THEY CAN ALSO ARRANGE A VAN THAT DRIVES FROM ONE END OF CROWNHTS TO THE OTHER , PERFECT FOR GIRLS OR TEACHERS TO GET TO SCHOOL FROM UTICA OR ST JOHNS OR WINTHROP TO BETH RIVKAH ETC…., WE WOULD APPRECIATE THAT……

    great idea…a place to rest, a place to collect your thoughts, have a cup of coffee and relax…also gives you time to think about how maybe you are spending too much money

    in alot of shpping malls, they davka don’t put places just to sit,(to eat yes and spend more money) as they want you to go go go and spend spend spend..and the crazy music in the background makes you crazy so that you buy buy buy and when you finally get home and sit and reflect,you realized that you just spent hundreds of dollars most of which was unecessary! However, if only you had a place to sit and reflect of what is a need vs a want…
    sorry store owners,a bench might do you a diservice in the long run..but a boost to bank accounts,marriages and good mental and physical health. just to sit and do nothing very meditative too

    In every out of town FRIENDLY city you will find bentches all over. its just a gesture of caring and consideration. I for one who has problems with my feet and a host of other people including young expectant mothers will bless the person who thought of doing this every time we’re about to fall off our feet and will be able to sit down for a bit to rejuvinate, Those store keepers who complain about this do not provide any consideration for their customers comfort at any time so naturally all they can see is the fault. which by the way is non existant. It’s about time these storekeepers became a little more PEOPLE friendly and start treating their customers like human beings and not just their money makers.

    It would be great if they’d install one in front of Empire Kosher. Sometimes I am in need of sitting down after an exhausting weekly shoppping, before my uphill trek back home.

    being a member of tznius patrol i personaly think we could use this to our advantage, we can station agents discreetly on the benches to help ensure our children will grow al taharos hakodesh. amen may hashem bless us with healthy and covered knees.us
