Tonight: Grand Opening of Chassidic Art Show
A brand new gallery catering to the artistically inclined members of the Crown Heights community will be hosting an opening reception tonight for an art show, featuring the work of three local artists, which will be exhibited there for the coming month.
The Creative Soul Presents: “Personal Freedom,” a show of contemporary Chassidic Art, at the newly opened Mayan center located at 386 Kingston Ave. [between Crown and Montgomery Sts.], from March 30th to April 30th.
The opening reception will be held tonight, April 3rd, from 7:30pm until 10:00pm. Refreshments will be served.
The reception, as well as admission, is free and open to the general public. The gallery is open Sunday through Thursday during regular business hours and also through appointment.
The Creative Soul has been exploring and celebrating Judaism through the arts for over three years through pop-up shows in temporary spaces. This is the first art show in its new, permanent location.
This exhibition will focus on celebrating the liberation of Passover on a personal level through the connection of imagery, text, and origins.
The three artist group show will feature the works of Natalia Kadish, Jodi Reznik, and Daniel Wolfe.
Mayan, formerly an ice cream parlor, is a newly opened space to be utilized by The Creative Soul. The name translates from Hebrew to “community space,” an appropriate name for what is taking place there. In addition to the show, The Creative Soul aims to facilitate multidisciplinary creativity through other mediums in this space. Writers, musicians, dancers and all forms of creativity are being facilitated through various events that will take place every Thursday evening there.
The Creative Soul is particularly excited about this opening as it is the first gallery showing in The Mayan Space and signifies the furthering establishment of artwork in the Jewish community.
Artworks and prints will be for sale.
