Lights out in the Merkos Offices

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — The entire fourth floor of 784-788 Eastern Parkway is dark leaving Chabad on Campus, Chabad.org, and JEM in the dark. At this time it is unclear why the electricity was cut off.

CrownHeights.info has learned that the rest of the building was affected as well with the internet knocked out as well as the phone system to the entire Merkos and the keycard security access system, leaving employees locked out this morning.

Officials at Merkos said that the shutoff was a simple oversight and a case of something “slipping through the cracks,” and that they expect the problem to be rectified very soon.

Update [12:34pm]: Security and phone systems are back up, the rest should be shortly.

Chabad.org is hosted off site so it was undoubtedly up and running.

Can someone please explain why Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters does not have an emergency generator backup system? I uess like most bureaucracies, they don’t act until something happens and then they play catch-up.
