$16,000 Worth Of Tefillin and Other Items Stolen From Chabad of San Francisco
by CrownHeights.info
A congregant of Chabad of San Francisco arrived for Shacharis Thursday morning only to discover the thefts of Tefillin and other items.
“Jonathan Chaet, a regular congregant at Chabad of SF, said he was the first to arrive at synagogue for morning prayers on Thursday around 6:30 a.m,” JWeekly.com reported. “He noticed that a lockbox containing a shared key was missing and that a gate protecting the front door was slightly ajar. Chaet then contacted Langer.”
Stolen form the Shul were multiple pairs of Tefillin, as well as a Tallis and other items.
Despite and attempt to search for discarded items, the Tefillin and other items could not be found. The lockbox, missing a communal key, was found smashed across the street.
The burglary is being investigated by the police, with evidence suggesting that the thieves were looking to steal valuable items.
The Chabad of San Francisco Shul is run by Rabbi Moshe Langer.
