Crown Heights [CHI] — A member of the Crown Heights Shomrim volunteer patrol woke up this morning to find that his car had been torched. A burning substance had been tossed between the windshield and the hood, incapacitating the car and causing substantive exterior damage.

Crown Heights [CHI] — A member of the Crown Heights Shomrim volunteer patrol woke up this morning to find that his car had been torched. A burning substance had been tossed between the windshield and the hood, incapacitating the car and causing substantive exterior damage.

The volunteer had parked his car near his apartment on the corner of Union St. and Utica Ave. at 3:00am, after returning home from a response to a domestic dispute. The incident occurred sometime between then and 6:00am, when he got up for work.

It is as of yet unclear if the torching was connected to the aforementioned domestic dispute, or a random act of vandalism.

The police are investigating.

    Ny lost its class. Why damage a mans wheels?!? Don’t like the guy, put stickers, spray paint, but to totally ruin a person financially,with no way of getting to work, high NY insurance now becomes even higher.

    That’s a pretty big SUV. It is a major gas guzzler and terrible MPG on city streets.

    #5 my husband has brought the matter with the board weeks ago but it needs a community to fight for it .

    The owner should not have to pay because of his desire to help keep the streets safe. Is there a place to donate to help cover the cost of his deductible?
