Facebook Posts Lead to Bust of Crown Heights Gang

NY1

Alleged gang members hang out in Crown Heights’ Brower Park.

City law enforcement officials announced today the take down of a violent street gang they say is responsible for a year-long crime spree in Crown Heights, after gang member began arguing over robbery proceeds on Facebook.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes announced a 102-count indictment against 14 members of the “Brower Boys” street gang.

They say the suspects, some as young as 13 years old, broke into homes in and around Crown Heights by climbing fire escapes and crossing rooftops.

Once inside, they allegedly made off with electronic devices such as cell phones, laptops and even video games.

The items were later sold at pawn shops.

In one incident, four of the suspects allegedly tied up two people during a burglary and assaulted a female resident.

Investigators were able to track them down after they began arguing over proceeds on Facebook.

Another fine example of the crime going down thanks to Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. </Sarcasm>.

I guess the 77th and 79th Pct never tried to manipulate the crime data.

it was way over-due for this. The gangs are a big part of the issue in Crown Heights. SOMEONE (who?) overlooked working on them which has to be the cause of alot of the issues. Great work. Maybe some people will be suprised to get back their property…..maybe the computer which was used to go ON to Facebook was one of unzer’s property as well.
ok, its time to go for more too. It has to get better as my zeideh says.

I think you should change the picture accompanying this story. I highly doubt the people pictured are the actual gang members. How would you like it if someone snapped a random picture of you and captioned it: Murderer (or something like that)?

Eli has a point. We have to remember that we are those who uphold the Torah and we have to be the eidel ones.

I noticed none of this behavior was a problem before crown heights got whiter. There has been gang activity, violence and weed smoke in that park for years..I’ve been there over twenty years..now that some caucasians want to take it over it’s a problem…I hate ny…I’d rather racism be blatant…this way I know who my enemy is…well I’m black and I’m not going anywhere…Most of the white people I see moving into crown heights are not wealthy they are the white equivalent of black low class…
