Phone Snatching Victim Fights Back

This morning, a young Jewish man was walking down Crown St. from Kingston toward Brooklyn Ave. while talking on the phone to his soon-to-be bride. Suddenly, the phone was snatched out of his hand by an African-American man and his accomplice.

The shocked victim turned around and watched as the perpetrators continued merrily on their way, as if they had done nothing wrong.

Infuriated, the young man ran up and pounced on the back of the heavyset thief, then tried to pry back his stolen phone.

A scuffle ensued, and the commotion caught the attention of a passing Jewish man, who yelled “Chaptzem!” A passing Shomrim volunteer heard his cry and called for backup.

Within seconds, a dozen Shomrim members had converged at the scene from all sides. They held down the perpetrators and called the police, who arrived within minutes of being summoned.

The thieves were hauled off to the 71st precinct, where they were read their rights and charged with misdemeanor theft, and the phone was promptly returned to its rightful owner.

homes are up to $ 980 k per home .
for what to live with blk bums of all ages
    crazy

    • So what happens now?

You are entirely ignoring the fact that in CH you have access to the most schools for your children, and tuition is 1/4 that of any Yeshiva or schools elsewhere. Kosher food in NY is almost 50% less than elsewhere.

You are entirely ignoring the fact that the Ohel is a 30 min drive from CH, and that 770 is within walking distance.

You are ignoring the fact that in CH you have walking distance access to the 2,3,4,5 trains, which means that you are a 25 min subway ride from Manhattan, with access to thousands of jobs, shopping, dining and entertainment.

90% of your friends and relatives get married in CH, which means no traveling to weddings, Bar Mitzvah’s and L’chaims.

… Then you have some phone-snatching thugs, that lately always get caught. It’s unfortunate, but you can’t have everything in life.

The rent is going up because of tremendous demand to live in CH more than ever, from Lubavitchers and, sadly, from yuppies. There is demand now more than ever to live here, as jobs are scarce for Frum Jews right now outside the major cities. Try finding a job in LA or Miami and let me know how that goes for you.

    good team work.
seems like the chossen really wanted his phone to talk to his kallah.
but seriously, they just have to see that they cannot get away with this. Seems that they were never taught “sheli sheli, shelach shelach…..”
we must all watch out for each other, its an obligation.

  • "misdemeanor theft"?

why not a felony “robbery”?? – this was no shoplifting theft, this was an attack on a person and the forceful taking of property = ROBBERY! Why go soft on crime???

  • CHLEAKS.COM

The blacks must feel entitled to that phone. After all “the Jews are pushing out the blacks”.

  • Dont worry

With De BLasio someone is going to claim the race card, and those monsters will be back to the streets in no time

  • it's just a start

With the new progressive mayor things will just get worse and worse. Welcome back to the days of Dinckins :(

The person is stupid and lucky: First, stupid because he had his phone out in the open where it could be taken. Luckey because he could have been–G-d forbid–hurt by the perps who took his phone.

    • For goodness sake!

      What next, pray tell?
Stop taking a handbag with you to shop, don’t wear earings, don’t hold your car keys in your hand as you approach your car, of course don’t shop in local stores as you will be required to hold a bag of shopping OUT IN THE OPEN!!!! Leave those fancy boots at home, shovel inconspicuously so that they don’t grab the shovel??!!! Oh, and ditch the designer frames, they might grab em, just watch out for trees pulling out without using their blinkers. Get out of that ghetto Gauls mentality. We are proud and free. Walk like you own the streets and stick up for yourself and fellow Jew like your life depends on it. Coz it does!!!!
      London Boy.

  • Sweater weather

Or a coat…or red shirt. most get away with a scarf to show it is winter but it does not have an effect on them. Whatever works for you.

  • BEHRMAN

Why not talk while walking on the street? Do black people walking down Crown Street thinking “I better put my phone away. I am in a Jewish neighborhood. Some Hassid might take it!” Good on the guy who fought back. That is the answer. These guys are strong but don’t know how to fight. A couple of techniques and you could deck any one of them. FIGHTBACK! RECLAIM OUR STREETS!

  • Fools

What’s the matter? Mom and dad didn’t get you an iPhone 5s for X-mas?
Fools, get a life. Get rightfully earned money. Your own money that is.

Welcome to Crown Heights. I respect those who undergo mesiras nefesh to stay here, but I’d give it all up to move to a nicer neighborhood, if the Rebbe would only give me a Brocho…
