Jewish Students Pelted With Rocks in Another Attack

At around 4:15pm today, Wednesday, as children all over the neighborhood were making their way home from school, a number of Jewish kids were pelted with rocks – and one of whom was struck in the face – in a random attack perpetrated by youth believed to be from a nearby public school.

The victim, a 9-year-old student at Darchei Menachem, which is located on Rutland Road and Brooklyn Avenue, was on his way home when a rock was thrown at him by a group of three public school students, aged approx. 11 to 13, two of whom the victim identified as African-American and one Hispanic.

The rock struck the boy in his face, causing an injury near his eye.

Police told CrownHeights.info that they were not alerted to the incident until four hours later, which was when the boy’s father arrived home and called the police and Shomrim. Police sources further said that the incident is being referred to the Hate Crimes Task Force.

The three perpetrators had previously thrown rocks at another group of Darchei Menachem students, though none of them hit their intended targets.

Deputy Inspector George Fitzgibbon, the commanding officer of the 71st Precinct, got personally involved in the case and assured the victim and his family that the crime is being taken very seriously.

Deputy Inspector Fitzgibbon instructed his Captain and Lieutenants to be directly involved in the investigation, and will himself visit Darchei Menachem Thursday to hear from the other victims and weigh how to proceed with the investigation.

    I understand that you want revenge, and that you want to feel safe, but “hitting back” is the wrong solution – it is dangerous and it will not help the situation in the bigger picture.

    All beginnings are difficult. When Inspector lewis was here his first two weeks had much of the same crimes and he turned out to be amazing! Inspector Fitzgibbon is taking everything seriously and is personally involved in these cases. Im sure the work will bear fruit and we will close these cases.

    This scenario does involve anti-Semitism, but it is also about children without any sense of boundaries and self-respect. The Rebbe talked about a moment of silence in schools for this reason- these children need to be taught that there is something above them that they should be aware that their behavior and choices DO matter.

    To all you liberal do-gooders who think giving a nice little talk in the auditorium or “encouraging” respect & boundaries: you are delusional. These ARE savages & the only thing they understand is violence. I agree completely with #1. We have to fight back.

    The first step is to teach all kids (boys & girls) self defense. Parents: buy your kids Mace. Who cares if it’s legal? You will worry about that AFTER your kid successfully chases off attackers.

    The only talking should be to the Bochurim & schoolkids who don’t get or know that you don’t use an i-phone in the street; you don’t go out alone (even to & from school) & that they have to keep their eyes peeled & be aware of their surroundings.

    If we don’t do anything, it will turn into Germany. We have to be proactive & reactive when (not if) there is an incident.

    Enough is enough. The police aren’t protecting us, I bet there are plenty of harassments that go unreported and we have to take care of ourselves – no one else will.

    Same amount of public schools like 30 years ago, when our community was much smaller & today our community ka’h is much bigger & there are the same amount of schools ? Something doesn’t make sense where are the students coming from ?,

    If Blacks were being targeted the same way it would be front page news with all the politicians and celebs raising their voices, and the city would’ve mobilized the police force to take AGRESSIVE action! Jews being targeted and assaulted ON A DAILY BASIS in NYC for no other reason than being Jewish seems to be tolerable and evokes nothing more than a yawn, if even that.

    A vet told me a story that his platoon was walking in the jungle when, all of a sudden, they surprised a group of enemy soldiers (most likely Viet Cong), who were also in the jungle for some reason. What did they do, they just kind of nodded their heads, and both groups walked away frome each other without a fight.

    Why didn’t they fight? Because, they knew that they would only kill each other equally, so what would that accomplish?

    The lesson here is that, before going on a vigilante rampage, try this first: If we are capable of serious retaliatory measures, let that be known, without threatening anybody. I would like to think that would be enough to be a deterrant. For example, if a group of people are walking around, looking like they are up to something, without pointing anything at them, display to them what you’ve got and just move on. Is it illegal to carry a butcher knife that you use to cut your fish, chicken, etc.?

      That is the right direction. Being ready to defend is NOT attack. Reach out to the correct black organizations that are against any and all racism and hate.Be sure to respect your fellow humans.However train your children boys and girls defense.

    I was working in a store, cutting styrofoam with a big knife. A group of kids came into the store, coming off like they were up to no good. We asked them to leave. They ignored us. So, with a couple of styrofoam pieces already in my hands, I just got up (by habit, put my hands behind my back) and approached the kids. They started walking away. Then one kid said,”OH, he’s got the buthcher knife!” (I did not). They flew out the door!

    This is really heart breaking when innocent children are being injured in the psychotic twisted games of supposedly knowing adults. This needs to stop seriously!!!!!!!
