Shoplifter Arrested for Stealing $6 in Items
A shoplifter was apprehended and arrested after stealing two items from a Kingston Avenue store. The items were valued at a mere $6.
The incident occurred Sunday afternoon in the First Quality paper goods story on Crown and Kingston. Witnesses saw the woman leaving the store with the items – a photo frame and salt and pepper shaker set – without paying. A store manager said the items were valued at around $6.
Passersby saw the shoplifter, a woman described to be in her late 50’s or early 60’s, being followed by store workers and called Shomrim, who caught up with the suspect on Kingston and Lefferts. After inquring about the items the suspect claimed to have bought them from a “Mexican on the street”, but a quick check of store surveillance video captured her committing the theft herself.
Police arrested the women and charged her with Petit Larceny.
looks like a man!
not a woman

By writing a mere$6 you are trivializing her crime. Stealing is stealing. No matter what amount!

eh… I think the correct term is ´petty larceny´…

I caught a senior citizen stealing in my shop, she was well known and well liked. I thought she had just made a mistake. I checked the surveillance video and found she had been stealing $5-$10 worth of merchandise DAILY for a month (my video only went back 30 days, she had been a customer for years.) Whether 10 years old or 100, whether stealing $1 or $1,000, a thief is a thief.

it is:
Petit larceny.
A person is guilty of petit larceny when he steals property. Petit larceny is a class A misdemeanor.

I told the store owner and no there was not any other person who said something even though there was a ton of other people watching
