  • To Yeruchum

Hey dude, calm your liver. I am allowed to thank Hashem for keeping young children out of harms way. That does not mean that I don’t care for the residents of the condos. Wow some people have a short fuse!

  • Next time be sure you were double parked

If he was double parked this incident would have never happened there would have been police all over him.

  • Sad sad

Is this got to be related to the indecent that happened in flat bush with that guy who killed 5 people

  • meir

when fire arms are outlawed only outlaws will have them.
    push for constitutional carry now…..

  • family member

A- the license plate number is incorrect.

  • eli f

their were probably cops giving out tickets on the same block while it took place i hope the victim did not get one for jay walking or loitering

  • former resident of East Beirut

    dear fellow CH residents:
can we please stop kidding ourselves and acknowledge the FACT that CH is NOT a safe neighborhood, no matter which block you live on.

  • Patroll our streets

It’s scary for the kids walking the streets to & from school these days ! I panick when my kids are a few minutes late when coming home .
Let’s have the streets of CH well patrolled at all hours of the day.

  • Crown street

And is Tamir marching into the 71st to DEMAND more visible police? Yeah, & I’m the tooth fairy.

  • This place is unsafe

    im totally with u #13!!
Crown Heights is NOT a safe place at all!
These things happen all over the place and at all times!!!
CH needs to be patrolled all over and at all time!!!!!
    Moshiach now!!!!

  • cocoaman

there must be some mistake here.crime is down after all.bloomberg can show u the numbers…

  • Joburger

It’s time to emigrate back to SA. They’ve created an infrastructure of security that the carjacking days are bygone history. Now it’s come to CH. In SA today they have CAP (community armed patrol) that fights crime, not two fighting Jewish groups, rather a community initiative supported by Jews and gentiles alike. The quality and cost of living and the weather is much better there anyways and they have combatted the carjackings so hey, SA we’re moving back to you.

  • Stop Blaiming CH

oh stop with the CH IS NOT SAFE diatribe. Is it safe anywhere else? poleeeease, its NOT! That episode yesterday is in a very safe hood. By Sheepshead Bay, and what happened there?? How about the guy that nebach died hit by this creep on Ocean and Ave R ??
Bottom line, if your unhappy you will be unhappy wherever you live or move to.
These things happen often in all the hoods around us and across the country.
That said, our elected whatever they are should give more then half a crap to this nonsense and try to make the streets safer at all times.

  • shame on Drizin

why did the developers not install video cameras outside the buildings??
    shame on Drizin

  • To all those who say CH is not safe....

You know how you hear about those freak stories where a gunman went into a school/college and went on a shooting spree and killed 30 kids. It is NEVER is a big city, it is always in the boondocks somewhere where the residents say how calm it is and they never lock their door etc.

There is good and bad everywhere. Stop bashing Crown Heights.

  • Zaki Hackner.

Of course the Vaad Hakohol will now give an award to the police.

Then they will make a party for them at someones fancy house.

Afterwards they will claim the only way to deal with this is to say how nice the police are to us.

We should go to Egypt to learnchow to deal with tyrants.

  • elisha

    better police presence

and yes even better is security cameras in our streets

im a big fan of electing to splinter and sizing our own police precinct from rochester to nostrand from maple to st johns square and manage our own community instead of being swallowed in the greater beurocracy

  • Concerned about the inaction

Why don’t the land lords come together and pay for a security force for crown heights, its their buildings they are making money of the rent. Give back to the community.

  • @joburger

Why not implement a C.A.P-like system in CH too? Jewish Joburg is quite a broad area, whereas CH is relatively small. It should be easier to patrol. Plus, CH has blocks in grid shape as opposed to Joburg. All you need is to bring in a few big, heavily armed mercenaries [seriously thats what they are in sa] and you’ll see the crime start to go down. 2 guys per car and about 4 cars.

  • .............

soo sad!!! its so frusterating when people do that to someone and has a gun that the person must go out of what they are doing… i feel like crying !!!!!!

  • obama said

elected officials should step down let the army take over meanwhile until new elections, come to the office and do some volunteer work like pasken shailos etc. free for all

  • mendol

I think we should all leave this community its just one big zoo the fact is its very unsafe hear most crimes don’t even get reported so on paper it looks good the cops do a terrible job most of them stink at what they do and their crooks them self’s and everything I’m saying are backed up by facts the only choice to all leave and let them do what they want once were gone

  • Achdus

Crown Condo has an underground parking. Please park there, and be safe. I agree taht we have to fight all that enemies of ours, because if not we them, then they us.
    Please be careful

  • if you don-t like it move

what do you want the police to do put a cop on everyones porch? get a life we live in gulis look what happend on 13th Ave today and How may people were were killed in Flatbush this shabbos by a mad man? Yes we have to demand the police protect us but its imposable to expect them to stop every crime before it happens. If you don’t like it here move someplace eles we need your house/apartment for someone looking to join our wonderful shchuna!

  • Detroit

i Agree with #28 every Jew should know how to use a gun and carry one at all times you never know when you will need one

  • so sad

CH is not safe anymore. Child muggings are NOT going on all over the place. Dont kid yourself, we now have to look over our shoulders all the time.

  • CH IS unsafe!

the amount of incidents that happen in crown heights does not even compare to other places…

  • a resident of 580

as a resident of the buliding there are video caamras inside and out side of the buliding the incident happend some 50 feet away from the buliding the police are revewing the matirial that was givin to them from the vedio camaras of the buliding.
the frum lady that saw it happining is asked to come forward a speak to the police.

  • The police can only give tickets

I want to remind my fellow CH’ers that a guest staying in this same building was beaten up during Tishrei, a dead man was discovered in the empty lot next door and a store clerk was shot and killed at the corner of this block all in the past few months.

No one has been charged in any of the above crimes and most people have forgotten.

  • Attn, Zaki Tamir and Eli Cohen:

This policy of yours that appeasement is the only answer, “If only everyone would be nice to the police and worry about our image in the eyes of the police literally ENDANGERS LIVES! This is pikuach nefesh mammosh. This is in obvious transgression of the Torah. ”Lo Saamod Al Dam Reiecha“. Why do we have to wait unti lsomeone gets hurt Ch”v until you wake up and realize that the only way to curb crime in this neighborhood and earn respect from the police is to demand accountability. When they see that you put Jewish pride first and weakness on the backburner they will start being more aggressive in fighting criminals and leaving law abiding citizens alone.

  • history....

We just learned today in the second amendment that u have the right to have weapons such as guns!!!!!!!!!!

  • God working in mysterious ways

on shabbos i was walking to shull as i passed the corner of Crown Street on kingston ave i was wandering what happend to the shomrim truck that stends there every shabbos ?
instead there was a capo small car taking its place.
i guess when some capos are trying to take over crown heights for the goyim our security is compremized.

  • in my years living in crownheights

4 times my window was smashed btwn 2003 2006 and goods stolen a album of my sisters wedding a cell phone a palm pilot and my car was stolen from montgomry btwn brooklyn and NY never found the nissan maxima 1990 but my license plate got alot of tickets that were given on many difrent cars they transferd that plate to at least 6 cars and not one cop that worte the ticket relized it was stolen so good luck when i went to report it it seemed like its normal and you wont get it back as if the cops help these thives

  • may Gd protect us from harm..

unfortunately more police on the streets also equals more tickets because the cops have agendas too.
This incident really hurts and I hope the victim is doing ok.
    keep safe!!

  • Mrs. Jacobson, VP, 71st Pct. Com. Con.

If you are okay with this car jacking. (nothing can be done anyway- I don’t drive a Toyota)

If you are okay with a child being mugged on Troy Ave ( I don’t carry an ipod, I am not 10 years old)

    THIS THURSDAY

  • clove

this crime condition is costing us so much.
Can’t the community get some kind of grand so we can ALL buy cameras and then help the situation?

  • Split the 71st

im a big fan of electing to splinter and sizing our own police precinct from rochester to nostrand from maple to st johns square and manage our own community instead of being swallowed in the greater beurocracy

This is correct. The 71st is too big. There are decent blacks who are also not getting the protection they need against hoodlums because all of the resources are needed in the really bad parts of the precinct.

While there are some really bad apples in the 71st, most of them are just plain overworked.

However, a carjacking on Albany and Crown just boggles the mind. This does call for a sit-in. And you’d be surprised at how many blacks, especially the Caribbean law-and-order types who really can’t stand the local welfare-bred, crack-and-smack toking dreck, would join us.

  • old timer

When I was younger, a car jack was something used to lift the car to change the tire. Now when they want to lift cars, they use guns.
Boruch Hashem, the victim is around to speak about what happened.

  • The Info

The perpetrator is a male black, 6 feet tall, approximately 19-20 years old and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The perpetrator is armed and dangerous. If you see the car do not approach, call 911 immediately and keep an eye from a distance.

The stolen vehicle is a grey 2010 Toyota Camry, plate # ENG3348.

  • I love South Africa

Funny, people mock us South Africans fro “car jackings” and “window smashing”. I can say that in 24 years living in Johannesburg that has never happened to me or anyone from my family. I don’t deny that it has happened to others I know. But I read about so much more violence and crime in NYC than we ahve ever experienced in SA. So to all you naysayers enjoying the freeezing cold weather and loads of tickets and the incessantly increasing costs of living in CH, just so you should know a nice house, car and school tuition cost as much less here and we don’t experience anything near the amount of violent crime that you do.

  • safe millwalkee

you know i think the NYPD should put a police car on every corner just like in millwalkee

  • lloyd a cohen

And, you have still the problem of the liberl kiss touches judges who just slap the criminals hands and say be a nice boy. Recently, there was a case of a seven time loser(major crimes) walking the streets and attempting to kill one of policeman il he in turn was killed. he should never been out of prison with his record. Unil this addressed coupled with stronger police enforcement you will continue have this problem.

  • Past experiences tell..

The lady who saw it probably did not come to the police because we – and that includes women – can’t trust most of them. That’s the simple, sad truth.
