Nelson Arrested Again and Again and Again
CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Car owners in Crown Heights can breathe easy for another few days, weeks or months. Terrance Nelson, the single most known criminal who has been terrorizing the neighborhood for over 4 years, has been arrested late Wednesday night after being caught breaking into a car on Carroll Street.

At around 11:00pm a resident spotted a perpetrator smashing a window of a car on Carroll Street near Kingston Avenue and called 911. Officers responded and following a short chase they caught up with Nelson on Albany Avenue and Union Street and arrested him.
News of Nelsons arrest came with mix of despair and reserved relief for most, one car owner told CrownHeights.info “this cant keep happening, he gets arrested only days after he is released and just goes right back to breaking into cars,” other residents suggested the use of violence to try and deter him from coming back, something another resident strongly discouraged, saying “you cant uphold the law by breaking it.”
A leader in Crown Heights Shomrim, the volunteer patrol of the neighborhood which has been responsible for more then 8 of his recent arrests, said that they have recently been working with the Brooklyn District Attorneys Office in attempt to pull together all the past cases and put Nelson away for a significant number of years.
For a number of days past victims of Nelsons crime spree was brought to the DA’s offices to make statements as well as Shomrim members who had witnessed some of his crimes, the results of which we all got to see. He was out once again after a short 25 days in lockup.

I think Nelson should run for Senate in 2010. This way he can work on his campaign as soon as he is released from this latest vacation length sentence. If he is elected, not only can’t he be worse than Hilary or the present caretaker, but he’ll be off the streets and stealing legally for six years!

With all this catch and release you’d think he’s a sport fish, not a criminal.
Not only should Nelson be brought to task for what he’s done, but the police and DA should be brought to task for allowing him to continue to do it.

Yael, your comment about “catch and release” was brilliant. It makes one pause to consider that he and his ilk should be listed as an endangered species that would be protected until they repopulate the city. After all, we know that the over-fishing that was policy during “Bull” Giuliani’s administration nearly drove them into extinction.

Too bad NY doesn’t have a “three strikes” law like some others states. After the third offense they put them away for a long time. In the meantime he should claim a commission from the local auto glass companies.

His issue looks like drugs to me, unless he looks the way he does because his mother used drugs during her (welfare subsidized out of wedlock) pregnancy.
And yes he does this to make sure he gets back in the can because he can’t survive on the outside.
Kind of like Charles Rangel, who keeps getting elected to Congress because he can’t do anything productive with his life in the real world.
But I want to make sure he is out of CH for 6 years and not 2, so it is a future in the Senate that I wish for him :) And if unqualified Obama can be elected to the highest office in the land, then certainly Nelson can make it to the Senate as at least he has some practical experience in this world!
