Infamous Dormitory Dark After Electricity Cut

ConEdison workers cut the electricity Monday morning to 749 Eastern Parkway, the Yeshiva dorm infamous for lawlessness and total lack of oversight.

The move comes after the Yeshiva stopped paying the electric bill following months of violence perpetrated against Yeshiva students and threats against members of the administration.

749 serves as a haven for a large number of former students, whom either graduated and refuse to leave or those who were expelled and thrown out of the 1414 President Street dorm that seek free room and board at 749.

For over twenty years Yeshiva administration turned a blind eye to the goings and comings in the building, allowing the rampant lawlessness to run wild to the point where an exasperated community no longer believes anything would change.

“The absurdity is that the Yeshiva is forced to rent out basements and apartments for deserving students since 1414 simply does not have enough space” said a source in the Yeshiva administration.

749 houses approximately 100 people, the majority of whom the Yeshiva administration says are not enrolled in the Yeshiva.

    Finally something is being done to dig out that terror cell which has been terrorizing this entire community for years and years and years!

    What a true chanukah miracle!!

    Let us only hope that none of the מחבלים come up and ‘help’ out by going against the yeshiva and turn those lights back on.

    There has to be a Baal Habayis and that is the Yeshiva and they are the final say. Only Bochurim in the yeshiva are allowed to benefit from the ממון הקדש of the yeshiva and anyone else who does is poshut a ganev. And the same would go for anyone who ‘helps’ without the permission of the true owners.

    Close it make apartments rent them out and the yeshiva will have close to 300K a year in rent role

    Regardless of what guise they presented themselves in Crown Heights, they are criminals, who physically hurt innocent bochurim, the hanhalah, and their families.

    Expel them – not from yeshiva – that doesn’t seem to have any effect – from the USA. They have student visas and have violated the legal terms. America will not give safe harbor to criminals.
    Painful to say that about Jewish boys, but what about the victims? Can’t the tables be turned and have Rabbanim, askanim, etc.. take them to JFK- put them on the list of terrorists who cannot reenter.

    Excuse my ignorance but if these boys were chucked out how dare anyone allow them to room and board there???? Whoever is there illegally should be arrested and i promise u if this would have happened there would have been no violence. I send my son to yeshiva thinking that he will be safe. It didnt occur to me that when i send my son from out of town to 770 yeshiva i am sending him to a zoo.

      The hanholoh has not controlled 749 for many years. The inmates took over the asylum, and control the building themselves. They don’t just allow people to stay there who are not students of the yeshivah — they built a mikveh in the basement, completely without any permission from the building’s owner!
