No Strings Attached: Free Summer Home for a Week

Would you like to watch your children run freely in a summer home in Upstate New York, but can’t afford the astronomical rent? A local businessman is offering a newly renovated unit, for a week at a time, for 8 different families.

A local businessman reached out to CrownHeights.info with a novel idea. He has access to a small, newly renovated summer home which he wants to give away for free to eight different families, who otherwise could not afford a week away from the city.

No strings attached.

This summer home is located in the Catskill Mountains in a popular colony. The renter will enjoy access to the grounds amenities for the entire week of their stay.

The unit is a two bedroom unit with five twin beds.

Interested? Contact [removed, see update below] today, you will be asked a few questions and verify that finances are difficult for you.

No strings attached! The only thing being asked is that you treat the property with decency, keep it clean, be nice, honest, with good manners and leave it in good condition.

UPDATE: After receiving ‘hundreds’ of applications the donor asked that we remove the email address as they have received more then enough applications to fill the home for each week of the summer. Thank you.

I bless this yid with ashirus in abundance, he obviously feels and understands his fellow yid if he had more money he would help more people, this is what a neshomo comes down for, to do a toiva for another yid.
and for all those administrators of camps who have turned them into private businesses i do not envy you,

  • Nice

Such wonderful and positive news is always welcome. These acts bring Moshiach closer.

What a beautiful thing to do!! To rent at some of these places is insane.

  • Incredible

This is so incredibly beautiful to read about.

To this wonderful individual: You are one of a kind.

  • So nice!

True Ahavas Yisroel! What a beautiful gift for the Rebbe on this special day.

  • wow

Wow, so glad to see such kindness, it was worth going on line tonight just to see that!

  • Mom

Wow! Beautiful! We should all take a lesson and inspiration from this person. Most of us cannot do this, but surely on a smaller scale, we can find a way to ease someone’s burden
In honor of this, I IYH will send an additional check to CSSY, or Devorah Benjamin, the camp fund, etc
    Who will join me?

  • Foolish Chutzah

We all know that we must live within our means. Why would someone want to SPOIL a person who cannot afford luxury to taste a week of “the goo dlife” which is beyond that persons financial means? Why tease someone with the life of the rich – and then return the person to their poordom?

Imagine, I have a high end luxury car (a Rolls Royce) and each month I allow a poor family to use it for the month – now some poor fellow is driving around in my Rolls! Is that not foolish?!

Does the poor fellow need a Rolls or does he really just need survival cash?!

Better, rent out your spare bungalow and distribute the cash to the poor who need it!

I can only call this foolish chutzpah. The chutzpah is the tease factor added to the foolishness.

Always has to be one negative comment in even the most positive of stories. I never comment on stories but after seeing what you said I just had to.
The point is not to have a Rolls Royce to lend out, the point is to have SOMETHING to get around in at all. If they cannot afford a car, then a week with even a jalopy would be helpful. If they cant afford a vacation then a week anywhere out of the city would be helpful. and trust me; nobody will be SPOILED by ONE WEEK in the country that will give the family some much needed rest and relaxation that we all deserve at some point, I assume YOU are the SPOILED one from your ignorant comments.

    • NO LIMITS

I DON’T KNOW ABOUT FOOLISH CHUTSPA. YOU ARE CERTAINLY THE EPITOME OF FOOLISH, STUPID, MEAN, INCONSIDERATE, UNSYMPATHETIC AND TOTALLY LACKING IN AHAVAS YISROEL.!!! THE FEW DOLLARS THIS PERSON WOULD INSTEAD GIVE WOULD DISAPEAR IN A BLINK AND THE FAMILY WOULD BE BACK IN POORDOM. BUT A WEEK AWAY, A CHANGE OF THE DREARY EVERYDAY HOPELESS SITUATION WOULD GIVE THE PERSON A NEW VIGOR TO GO ON WITH. TAKE LESSONS FROM THIS KIND GENEROUS PERSON IN HOW TO HAVE FEELINGS FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS LESS THAN YOU. IT MIGHT MAKE YOU INTO A NICER PERSON.

      Idiot!
I still remember and my adult children still remember the one week we had in the country when a friend was leaving early and gave me an opportunity of a lifetime, to get a break from the city, and my kids could run around without fear of cars or crime. It created memories and good feelings for a lifetime
Of course we knew it was temporary, we were not stupid; but should we never taste a good fruit if we may not get another one next week? How silly!

  • Really important

When I was living in ch, someone gave me a bungalow for a few days, midweek. It made such a difference to me and the kids. So, anyone in a position to do this for someone else, it is a really worthwhile, valuable gesture!
20 years later and still grateful

You are insane. No words would do justice to describe your insanity. Fact is that for someone and his family to have a weeks break from the city is worth thousands. even if they return to the city at the end of the week.

Why don’t you go out and pay for a yungerman’s baby sitter for a week , so that his wife can have a rest. Oh I forgot, according to you if he can’t afford a baby sitter , no one should help, lest he might be hurt when he goes back to the real life where he and his wife share the load of caring for the kids.

  • Huh

They won’t show a pic so as not to embarrass but 8 families in 8 weeks won’t embarrass?

  • I didn't get any questionnaire

I sent a msg right away yesterday when I saw this. I still have not received any questionnaire or any response.
Does anyone know if they’ve gotten any kind of response yet?

to #17, i don’t have a car and yes would love to drive a rolls royce or any car for a month, i would not use public transportation for one month, and my feet and legs would feel much better for one full month. I’ve never hear such a foolish comment like yours in my life
