Goldstein is Furious with Kingston Contractor
Furious with the contractor doing the construction work on Kingston Avenue, Jacob Goldstein – chairman of community board nine – fired off a letter warning the community about the treacherous conditions on Kingston and Empire. Goldstein writes that he asked the contractor to hold off working until after the parade, a request they ignored.
A LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY
The contractor involved with the reconstruction of Kingston Avenue was approached by the parade committee and asked not to work on Friday, due to the parade and the thousands of people, to include children, which would be walking on Kingston Avenue and along Empire Boulevard.
Apparently, the construction company did not care, and proceeded to begin construction today. As a result, the Southeast corner of Kingston Avenue and Empire Boulevard is very dangerous.
Please make sure to bring your cameras and record any incident(s) of injury, if you see something occur.
Photos should be sent to: bk09@cb.nyc.gov, or to Community Board Nine, 890 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11225. Additionally, please note the time and date of any incident(s).
The compiled photos will be given to the city and the contractor in order to hold both the city and contractor accountable should chv”sh anyone injure him or herself due to this irresponsible action by the contractor.
Rabbi Jacob Goldstein,
Chairman, Community Board Nine
Jewish dude
Nobody seems to care anymore about law and rules.
was there
very dangerous corner to cross!!!! impossible to go when green with the cars in the street and obviously cant go on red with cars coming from the opposite direction!
Thank You!
wow, thank you for the warning! much appreciated. Will make sure to take a detour on a different avenue. What a shame though, it is directly on route from the parade to the rides. How inconsiderate and detached can the city and its workers be to not care or at least try. After all it is a children’ parade. Bez”h no one will be injured. Let’s not let these miserable workers get us down. Our children are so excited for the parade!!!Thanks again for sharing this danger!!!!
What about alternate sideparking?
Mr. Goldstien is also the one to mention to the fact we don’t want alternate side parking 4 times a week, as in other communities where it is twice. As I hear, it is not happening here because of 2 boeard members that for some reason want us moving cars and paying heavy tickets. We should send him a letter…
