Historic Menorah Lighting at Colorado State Capitol
An historic moment took place in Denver, Colorado on the seventh night of Chanukah. For the first time in history, a public menorah was erected in front of the State Capitol building, and was lit by Colorado’s Jewish Senator, Michael Bennet (D).
Senator Bennet took a moment to speak about his family, his grandparents who survived the Holocaust and how much it meant to him to be able to participate in the event and the lighting.
Former Congressman and presidential candidate Tom Tancredo (R) was honored with the lighting of the Shamash.
The Menorah and event were arranged by Shliach to Denver Rabbi Zalman Popack.

YMSP
R’ Zalman’s accomplished amazing things in such little time! It seems that he’s the only shliach other than R’ Mulle Butman to get a US Senator to attend, this one (Bennet) the son of a holocaust survivor. He’s going strong.
Go Zalman
