Long Island Shliach Donates Kidney, Joining Special Group Going Above and Beyond

His brother gave a kidney, some of his cousins gave kidneys, and now Rabbi Zev Baumgarten, a Chabad Shliach to Oceanside, NY, is joining the special group of Baalei Chessed that are donating a kidney to help others.
“It’s a pleasure and an honor to be able to do this mitzvah,” Rabbi Zev explained just minutes before his procedure Monday morning. “My parents gave me the Chinuch that when you get a chance to do a mitzvah, we do it. So here we are.”
Rabbi Zev joins a growing list of Chabad Shluchim who have donated kidneys to others through Renewal, a leading donor organization.
