BDE: Mrs. Rivka Junik, 87, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Mrs. Rivka Junik OBM, a member of the Anash community of Antwerp, Belgium.

She was 87 years old.

Her husband, Rabbi David Eliyahu Moshe Junik (17 Sivan 5694 – 30 Nissan 5754), was among the distinguished members of the Chabad Chassidic community, serving as a shochet and mohel in Antwerp, Belgium. He married his wife, Rivka, daughter of the well-known chassid Rabbi Baruch Shiprin.

After their marriage, they initially settled in Paris, later moved to Toronto, and also lived for a period in Boston, until finally settling in Antwerp, Belgium, where R’ David Eliyahu served as a shochet and mohel and was counted among the distinguished members of the local Anash community.

She is survived by her children; Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Junik (Montreal, Canada), Rabbi Dovber Junik (Crown Heights), Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Junik (Nachalat Har Chabad, EY), Rabbi Menachem Mendel Junik (Crown Heights), Mrs. Sarah Horowitz (Jerusalem, EY), Mrs. Henia Maliel Lipschitz (Antwerp, Belgium), Mrs. Chana Hertzel (Crown Heights), Mrs. Nechama Oster (Toronto, Canada), and Mrs. Basya Gitta Weiss (Crown Heights).

The Levaya will be Motzei Shabbos, passing by 770 at approximately 9:35pm.
Kevurah will take place in Eretz Yisroel.
