BDE: Mrs. Liba Braina Schtroks, 57, OBM

With great sadness we report the passing of Mrs. Liba Braina Schtroks OBM, a devoted Shlucha of the Rebbe in the city of Cologne, Germany. She passed away Monday night, the 9th of Shvat, 5786.

She was 57 years old.

Mrs. Straks was the wife of HaRav Menachem Mendel Schtroks, one of the earliest and most prominent shluchim in Germany. Together, they dedicated their lives to strengthening Yiddishkeit and spreading Chassidus in a place where Jewish life was rebuilt with great mesirus nefesh in the post-war era.

Following a brief farewell by the Jewish community of Cologne, close friends, and family, the aron was flown to Eretz Yisroel. The levayah will take place Wednesday, Yud Shevat, departing from Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem at 11:00 a.m., with burial in the Chabad section of Har HaMenuchos.

The family will be sitting shiva in Kfar Chabad, at the home of the Gerbertchik family, Likutei Sichos Street 21.

She is survived by her husband, the shliach HaRav Menachem Mendel Schtroks, and their children: Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schtroks (Tzfas, EY), Rabbi Shneur Zalman Schtroks (Nachalas Har Chabad, EY), Mrs. Chana Teichtel (Moscow, Russia), Bluma, Sholom Dovber, Chaya Devorah Leah, Shterna Sarah, Shmuel, Nachum Gavriel, Avraham Yeshaya, and Ovadya.
