Israel’s Chief Rabbi David Yosef Visits Miami’s LEC
The staff and students of Miami’s Lubavitch Educational Center welcomed Rishon Letziyon Rabbi David Yosef, Israel’s Sefardic Chief Rabbi, who made a special visit to the boys schools.
“At this critical time for our brethren in Eretz Yisroel, we were honored to be joined by the Chief Rabbi as we davened and gave tzedakah in their merit,” says LEC Head of School Rabbi Benjy Korf.
Accompanied by Rabbi Yossi Zavdi and Rabbi Mendy Cass of LEC, Rabbi Chay Amar of Chabad of Golden Beach, and Rabbi Yosef Galimidi of the Edmund Safra Synagogue, Rabbi Yosef toured some of the classrooms with Boys Elementary School Principal Rabbi Moshe Stern, interacting with the students and asking them questions on what they were learning. The younger boys practiced their kriyah skills and read from their siddurim and the older boys shared what they were currently studying for the Chidon Sefer Hamitzvos.
At a gathering of Torah, tefillah, and tzedakah for the safety of the Yidden in Eretz Yisroel with Grades 5-8, Rabbi Yosef encouraged the boys to focus on their learning, reminded them that they have a responsibility to learn Torah and spread Yiddishkeit to all those around them, “l’chsheyafutzu mayonosecha chutzah.”
Rabbi Yosef blessed the staff and students with success and nachas from their holy work and in their personal lives. “This yeshiva is a strong place of Torah and yiras shamayim,” he said.
LEC thanks Rabbi Mendy Shachar for his assistance throughout the visit.
