Rabbi Levi Duchman, the Shliach to the United Arab Emirates, made a unique visit to City Hall in New York City and met with Mayor Eric Adams, where Adams expressed condolences on the murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan HY’D.
“Today, I had the honor of meeting Rabbi Levi Duchman, who has been working in UAE to foster coexistence and unity among the local community,” Mayor Eric Adams wrote on social media. “In the wake of the tragic loss of Rabbi Kogan, I extended condolences on behalf of New York City and reaffirmed our shared commitment to combating extremism and embracing peace. Together, we stand for a brighter, united future.”
Duchman’s visit took place alongside the Annual International Kinus Hashluchim in Crown Heights, which saw thousands of Chabad Shluchim converging for a weekend of encouragement and unity.
Rabbi Yaacov Behrman, the Director of Operation Survival and founder of the Jewish Future Alliance, joined Rabbi Duchman in City Hall for the visit.
“I was honored to accompany Rabbi Levi Duchman @RabbiUAE on a visit to City Hall, where he met with city leaders and the Mayor, who expressed condolences on the tragic murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan,” Behrman wrote. “Rabbi Duchman told the @ericadamsfornyc about the beautiful coexistence that exists in the UAE @uaedgov and the recent growth of the Jewish community. He emphasized their determination to continue Rabbi Kogan’s important work.”
