19 Kislev Farbrengen from 35 Years Ago Released

As Chasidim around the world prepare to celebrate the Flagship Yom Tov in Chabad, Yud Tes  Kislev, a brand new Farbrengen with the Rebbe was released by Jewish Educational Media (JEM).

Until the year 5748-1987, celebrating Yud Tes Kislev in Lubavitch meant primarily one thing – participating in the Rebbe’s Farbrengen.

For those who merited to be there in person, and those who participated via hookup, or, later, satellite, the experience was other-worldly.

At the Farbrengen of 19 Kislev 5742, many  fascinating Sichos, a Ma’amar, two Hadranim, Chalukas Hashas, and many niggunim including Pada B’sholom were several of the highlights.

Now, just in time for Yud Tes Kislev of 5777, that special experience will be available to all, as Jewish Educational Media releases a brand new DVD of the special Farbrengen.

In a strategic partnership between the Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim and JEM, the Farbrengen will be released to over 45 Yeshivos, and many Anash communities around the world.

The almost 5-hour DVD features subtitles in 7 languages, Hebrew, Yiddish, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian, and multiple playlists with special selections for for use by children, families and communities. A Farbrengen has never been more accessible and understandable to so many.

The Vaad has also prepared material to assist and guide the viewer, including a transcript in English, Yiddish and Hebrew, bullets for each sicha, a step-by-step guide for the two Hadranim in the farbrengen and questions to help focus even during a longer sicha.

“We are pleased that so many tens of thousands will be able to experience these timeless moments with the Rebbe one again” said Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin of JEM. “The dedicated staff of Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim is doing an incredible job to maximize engagement, excitement and participation in communities across the world. We look forward to bringing many more special events with the Rebbe to the world, and working with the Vaad to maximize the excitement and impact.”

This project has been made possible by the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Cohen of Baltimore, MD.
