Belgian MP Visits 770

Mr. Ludo Van Campenhout, vice-mayor of Antwerp and a member of the Belgian parliament, toured 770 during a visit to Crown Heights on Tuesday coordinated by Belgian head shliach Rabbi Shabtai Slavaticki.

Mr. Campenhout, who serves as the minister of sports and minister of development in Antwerp province, is considered an important public figure in his country, regularly participates in Chabad’s events and supports the Belgian Jewish community in many ways.

Mr. Campenhout was greeted by Rabbi Velvel Farkash, a dear friend of Rabbi Slavaticki, who led him on a tour of 770. This was followed by a look at the WLCC communications room with Rabbi Chaim Boruch Halberstam and a tour of the Rebbe’s library led by Rabbi Berel Levine and his son.

Then, at the offices of Merkos L’Inyonei Chinuch, Mr. Campenhout enjoyed a warm conversation with Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and Thailand shliach Rabbi Chaim Ashkenazi about Chabad’s activities in Belgium.

During the conversation, Mr. Campenhout fondly recalled his participated in the annual Kinus Hashluchim three years ago. “Never has there been such a large-scale gathering whose sole purpose is unrelated to money, but simply about how to make the world a better place,” he said.
