Lubavitcher Entrepreneur Creates Cyber Money

Noson Hecht always knew he wanted to change the world. An active member of the Chabad community, he has let his faith guide him to the creation of several successful businesses and philanthropic endeavors. He has been blessed with success. Now, with his revolutionary new enterprise, comes the world changing.

Futurists and tech-gurus the world over have long predicted that digital currency would be the next innovation that would change the entire fabric of the Internet. The question isn’t if it will happen, but rather when. Well, the gurus have found their answer. Mr. Hecht has built Kurrenci, the world’s first truly universal digital currency.

Kurrenci is money for the Internet. You can shop with it, donate with it, send gifts with it and do anything else you want to do with it. It is, after all, money. Thanks to a groundbreaking exchange rate mechanic, Kurrenci is always worth more than the dollar. This bears repeating. Mr. Hecht’s amazing company has created money that is more valuable than the dollar. World changing, indeed.

“Using Kurrenci is like traveling to Israel.” Nosson Hecht says. “When you step off of the plane, your money is automatically worth more. That’s Kurrenci.”

This value proposition has already turned heads in the startup community. Kurrenci has been featured in a bevy of high profile media sources, including industry stalwart TechCrunch. The tech press, usually a cynical lot, has heaped praise upon praise on the paradigm shift the service represents.

Kurrenci also sticks close to Mr. Hecht’s philanthropic roots. The service was designed from the ground up to allow charities a better and easier way to collect donations. Consider it the social fundraising tool of the future. This function will be rolled out, along with several other cutting-edge mechanics, in the next several weeks. Additionally, the company gives a significant portion of their earnings to a wide swath of charitable organizations.

The revolution doesn’t just stop at the how and what, it also exists in the where. Mr. Hecht decided early on that he was going to actively bring in talent from the Chabad movement. As such, Kurrenci is headquartered in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and staffed by the best and brightest tech minds of both Chasidm and the secular world.

“I want to show members of the Chabad community that the tech startup world is not off limits.” He said. “Anyone of us can create the next Facebook or the next Google.”

As time progresses, watch Kurrenci become as ubiquitous as any other form of money. And that’s only the beginning. There are big things on the horizon.

This has been around since June and it hasn’t gotten very much notice. At present, you’re just buying a scrip dollar for a real dollar – today no one is giving more than $1 for a Kurrenci dollar.

Bitcoin is more complex, but it has real support and a real community backing it. This doesn’t give me the same confidence – and I don’t use or trust Bitcoin yet either.

Really, Kurrenci is no more revolutionary than gift cards or gift certificates that can be used at more than one store. Those were called “Chessed Dollars” back in the day when they were issued by frum organizations in exchange for tax receipts. I am sure some people who needed cash sold Chessed Dollars for less than face value, so whoever bought Chessed Dollars that way got currency worth more than a dollar. No chiddush there either.

Kurrenci may be the start of something, but right now buying and holding this currency is putting your money on keren hatzvi. Use it fast if you try it.

I also feel a bit queasy after providing info that can be used to steal my identity if the site is not secure. I don’t think for one moment that Hecht or anyone else behind the site would use my data, but the site seems low-budget and vulnerable to hackers.

I happen to need a virtual currency solution desperately and was hoping this would meet my needs. Perhaps they’ll be able to do more with this idea in the future, but as it stands now it really won’t go anywhere.

Now, this uneducated boy is trying to re-invent one of the world’s earliest invention – money. Ridiculous. Although I don’t mind a miracle that will let him succeed.
