Newly Discovered Edits on Tanya Lessons Published

In honor of Chai Elul, the birthday of the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe, the Rebbe’s handwritten hagoas (edits) on the text of Shiurim Bsefer HaTanya have been publicized on the website Hagaos.com. This treasure trove of manuscripts has never before been publicized.

As is known (see http://www.hebrewbooks.org/46490), before Reb Yossel Weinberg would deliver his famous Tanya on the radio shiur, the Rebbe would personally review and edit the transcript of the lesson. These edited lessons were later published in the sefer Shiurim Bsefer HaTanya (Lessons in Tanya).

The copies of the Rebbe’s hagoas, being released for the first time, demonstrate the nature and extent of the Rebbe’s hagaos and much can be learned from studying the Rebbe’s corrections and handwritten additions.

Appropriately for Chai Elul, the discovered hagaos are on the second section of Tanya, Shaar HaYichud VeHaemunah, where the Alter Rebbe discusses the well-known teaching of the Baal Shem Tov on the constant and intimate nature of the creation of the world.

The study of these valuable manuscripts will certainly lead to a deeper understanding of the Torah of the Alter Rebbe and the Baal Shem Tov.

The manuscripts can be viewed at Hagaos.com, under the Tanya tab.
