Yeshivas Kayitz Staff Trained by Experts

On Thursday, 28 Sivan, Rabbi Levi Feldman and his team of dedicated staff, with the onset of staff training, took the first step of embarking on a summer-long mission to give the talmidim of Yeshivas Kayitz-Tannersville the most safe, fantastic, and exuberant summer experience.

The teachers intently listened and absorbed from an array of experienced educators, receiving tips and information which will be implemented on a day-to-day basis this summer.

Beginning with an address from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, in which he set the tone to re-educate the masses of the purpose of summer camp, the mindset was crystallized, that these months are not to be use as a time to break and take a rest from one’s life rather to utilize the time, to work on building and strengthening one’s values, conduct, and principles.

Following this was an insightful lecture by the famed Rabbi Yossi Jacobson, in which he wished to set in stone that the goal this summer is not to be an employee rather to be an educator; one who is one hundred percent focused on enhancing the lives of his students physically, academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

This first session of training was concluded by an extensive lesson from Rabbi Levi Feldman, director of the summer program, providing the staff with practical, systematic methods which will enable them to accomplish the task which the Rebbe set in place; to build the youth and continue the on-going mission of “V’shinantum L’vonecha”, to cultivate and tend to the success of Hashem’s holy children.

The following day the training continued with a new panel of lecturers, focusing on the physical well-being of children. The counselors and staff were prepared with a class on first aid and CPR with Rabbi Goldstein, principle of Oholei Torah Mechina, after which the discussion turned to the emotional health of children and teenagers, lead by Family Therapist Rabbi Daniel Schunbach LMFT, and author of “At Risk – Never Beyond Reach.” He delivered an extensive lecture on a wide range of possible challenges young adults may face and how to approach them.
