Students Excel in Extracurricular Learning Projects

Oholei Torah Mesivta has concluded two special learning projects that ran through the entire year.

This year’s mesechta learned in Yeshiva was mesachta Shabbos, and as in previous years, bochurim were tested on 156 dafim Ba’al Peh of the mesachta.

A booklet was prepared at the beginning of the year, which was signed by the various roshei yeshivas after each testing.

At the end of the Year, the bochurim went to Rabbi Gavriel Tzinner in Boro Park, where he tested the group of 17 boys, who excelled in this project. Joining them were Rabbi Zushe Wilhelm, Dean, Rabbi Sholom Geisinsky and Rabbi Chaim Yisroel Wilhelm.

The participants were: Shaya Naparstek, Menachem Mendel Lepkivker, Moshe Aharon Butman, Tzvi Yisroel Yoel Cohen, Chaim Kozliner, Yisroel Wilhelm, Shmuel Gurary, Tzvi Hirsch Morozow, Levi Parnas, Levi Mintz, Moshe Tauber, Dovid Junik, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, Mendy Sorkin, Dovid Geisinsky, Zussy Oster and Mendy Baron.

The winners of the project received a certificate upon completion, and a monetary prize for each daf learned.

Unique to this year was the 200th anniversary of the Alter Rebbe’s histalkus, and the Mesivta learned Hilchos Shabbos in the Alter Rebbe’s honor. 18 bochurim, who received a grade higher than 85%, came together to be tested by Rabbi Mordechai Ashkanzi, Rov of Kfar Chabad, Israel. In total, the bochurim learned 770 chapters of the Alter rebbe’s Shulchan Orach. Rabbi Wilhem sponsored prizes for these bochurim, totaling well over $5,000 worth of Seforim.

The participants were: Moshe Morozow, Leibel Vogel, Moshe Aharon Butman, Tzvi Hirsch Morozow, Chaim Kozliner, Yisroel Wilhelm, Levi Sandhaus, Menachem Mendel Lepkivker, Shmuel Gurary, Yeshaya Rotenberg, Yisroel Gerlitzky, Mendel Fayershteyn, Mendy Nemanow, Moshe Tauber, Mendy Baron, Avrohom Schneerson and Levi Parnas.

These ongoing learning projects gave a chayos and special spirit throughout the entire Mesivta year.
