Changes Coming to the Kevutza Arrangement?

Shturem

Last month a letter was sent to all Lubavitcher Yeshivos in Eretz Yisroel, printed on the Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva stationary and signed by Mashgiach Rabbi Gedalia Bluming in the name of the hanhala. Rabbi Bluming requested that all yeshivas urgently send a representative to a special meeting in the Yeshiva offices in 770.

The topic of the meeting was not mentioned in the letter, but it is believed to be about cutting down the number of Tmimim coming to learn in 770 for the kvutza year. It is assumed that this is the result of improper behavior on the part of a few members of kvutza involving disrespect to Rabbi Bluming and other members of Hanhalah.

From talks with yeshiva staff members in Eretz Yisroel, it seems that the central yeshiva will accept only 5-10 top Tmimim from each yeshiva into kvutza, a step that all yeshiva administrations unilaterally disapprove. The above is an assumption, and no such request has been submitted to this date. The hanholo of 770 offered to pay one half of every representative’s ticket to the meeting. The offer was nixed when the hanholos decided to conduct the meeting via conference call or Skype.

The Rosh Yeshivas in Eretz Yisroel convened last week to discuss developments, including new hardships imposed by the IDF on the pre-kvutza Tmimim. In the past, Tmimim were obligated to sign up for enlistment in the IDF upon their return to Eretz yisroel in order to be allowed to take part in the year-long kvutza program. This arrangement has been put on ice for the time being.

This is a developing story, and will be updated when more details become available.

Once the thungs know that we want tolerate such behaviors it may help some what. But i don’t have to much faith. Why should the Israeli hanholo care after all its your problem

The issue is very simple, their just i`snt enough room in 770 for the local boys to learn, the local boys are either in the Collel or in Getzels or in Chovevei or in Hadar or in none of the above. The Yeshiva has a first responsibility for the local Bochrim. Until the Yeshiva cant find a way accommodate all of the Bochrim the local`s come first.

Hopefully these steps will put an end to the fanaticism the Israeli bochurim have shown. The ones chosen will come for a year of learning in 770 and not to create their skewed propaganda about the Rebbe ZT”L. Hopefully they will come, sit and learn, and leave back to Israel more learned and more grounded, ready for marriage.

look tell them straight “ if you make the slightest bit of trouble you will be shipped straight back to Israel and your student visas will be revoked, no ifs ands or buts”

  • It-s obvious

The Hanhalas of the Yeshivos want to get rid of their scum so they send them to us. Why would they agree to sending fewer lowlives?

About time they did something. Kvutza members are, by and large, violent trouble makers that are NOT sitting and learning.INS take note. Do not let them into the country.

  • stay strong

shal the 770 haholo stay strong and not exept wilder meshugoyim. things will calm down.

  • part of the hanhola in CH

The Israeli yeshivos save tons of money when they send their bochurim here. Why should they agree to cut down on the amount of kids they send. The more the merrier. There should be some kind of accountability. The boys should earn the right to come here and the isreaelis send them here to get rid of them. Many of them come and get jobs and work in the pizza shop in BP and flatbush and are 100% supported. Let’s stop this hefker velt.

    SMART ALECKS!
YES THERE ARE MESHUGOYIM AND TZFATIM, BUT THERE ARE PLENTY OR ENOUGH GOOD NORMAL ISRAELI BOCHURIM WHO ARE QUIETLY SITTING AND LEARNING. SO DON’T PUT THEM ALL IN THE SAME CHOLENT POT. BEING SELECTIVE IS IMPORTANT BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN IMPOSING A UNIVERSAL BAN OR CHEREM ON ALL ISRAELI BOCHURIM. HOW DARE YOU TAKE UPON YOURSELVES TO BE MEVATEL THAT WHAT THE REBBE SET UP BEFORE GIMMEL TAMMUZ. MAYBE THEY SHOULD BE MEVATEL SHLICHUS FOR AMERICAN BOCHRIM TOO, WHICH WAS ALSO SET UP BY THE REBBE????
ISRAEL YESHIVAS WILL RECIPROCATE AND NOT TAKE AMERICAN BOCHURIM EITHER, WHO ALSO SOMETIMES DON’T ALWAYS HAVE SUCH A GOOD NAME!

what the american jews said in 1939 about the polish refugees that were clamoring to escape europe.

have you no shame to write such hateful words about another yid and a chossid to boot in the middle of sefira? and then on lag b’omer we should have ”unity“ parades, ahavas yisroel etc. R”L, move to williamsburg or meah shearim with this attitude. you fit in with neturai karta perfectly.

  • seminary

what is so horrible it sounds just like the seminary situation for girls:
“there isn’t enough room to accomodate everyone so we can only accept ___ girls.”

    what a system!

  • Kvutzah in 770 very important!

It is very important for the Israeli Bochurim to come to 770 and live and learn in the Rebbe’s daled Amos for a year! We need to do whatever we can to develop their hiskashrus.
Having said that – a more organized Hanhala could and should enforce better standards and decorum.
