Friendship Circle Hockey Game Thrills Montreal

Over 650 people from the de Vimy, Lubavitch, and Cote St Luc communities in Montreal, Canada were treated to a thrilling hockey game at the Bill Durnan Arena on Motzei Shabbos Parshas Tazria.

The event benefited the Friendship Circle of Montreal, an organization that unites volunteers special needs children for a friendship that enriches their lives. Through a wide range of innovative programs and activities, the two share fun & love.

The game opened with the singing of Ani Maamin. After the ceremonial Faceoff, the game was underway, with the “Kings” wearing Chicago away jerseys, and the “Knights” in Boston’s home colours.

Between periods, children from the Friendship Circle were given the opportunity to compete in a shootout on one of the goalies. The crowd cheered on each goal scored by the children with special needs.

The Kings dominated for most of the first two periods, and entered the third with a 7-3 lead. Mendel Shpigelman led the Knights to a spectacular comeback with a natural hat trick, but the Kings were able to regain the lead and ultimately win the game 10-8.
