Russian Jewry Celebrates Alter Rebbe’s Liberation

In 1798 on the 19th of Kislev, Czar Paul I of the Russian Empire freed the Alter Rebbe from his confinement in a St. Petersburg fortress. 215 years later, hundreds of Jews gathered in Russia’s capital, Moscow, to celebrate the auspicious occasion.
