Barzilai Medical Center Honors Chabad Couple

About 1,500 employees of the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, Israel, along with the mayor of Ashkelon, gave Avraham and Ricky Lerer a standing ovation.

The unexpected gesture occurred during the medical center’s annual gathering, to which the Lerers were invited.

As the couple went up to the platform, the CEO of the medical center explained to the audience why the couple was being honored. “Every Shabbos, the Lerer family – Avrohom, Ricky and their children – host, feed and care for the needs of families of those who are being treated at the medical center; and they do it with happiness and humility,” he said.

“This is the work of Tzadikim, and for what they do, they deserve recognition and thanks,” he concluded to thunderous applause.

The Lerers were then presented with an award on behalf of the entire staff of Barzilai, thanking them for their endless generosity and hospitality.
