Lubavitch Vs. Agudah

Hat Tip: Hirschel Zig’s Blog

We thought we might share with our readers the following humorous comment, which was posted under the VosIzNeias article about the annual Kinus Hashluchim Banquet.

Comment #16 by Anonymous:

I have to admit, having watched video segments from both the Chabad and Agudah meetings, it was like watching a chassanah versus a levayah and I’ll let you guess which was which. One was upbeat, positive and rejoicing in what hashem has done for yiddeshkeit and will continue doing and the other was a nonstop cry of “Gevalt yidden” and how we’ve all gone off the derech and need to do major league tshuvah. Maybe next year, the Agudah will simply cancel their convention and attend as guests of Chabad (I’m sure the shalichim will enjoy the opportunity of doing some really heavy duty outreach).

For all the dancing on the ship deck, someone has to shovel the coal in the engine room. There is time to be mesameach and there is time to work on self-improvement.

  • not funny

THATS WHAT I CALL SINAS CHINAM HIDDEN UDER A MASK OF HUMOR
its about time u learn to and love all jews (not just frai ones)
and respect their way of serving hashem

Dear Editor: Some things are better left unsaid. This post is in poor taste and doesn’t reflect well on the values you as the editor have worked so diligently to imbue in your content. Discretion is truly the better part of valor. V”DL

  • Remember: Du bist a- shtick drek...

You know I find it so amazing that I got to be who I am.

Of all species, I am human.
Of all humans, I am a Jew.
Of all Jews, I am orthodox.
Of all the Orthodox, I am a Chassid.
Of all the Chassidim, I am a Chabadnick.
Of all Chabadniks, I am a Shliach.
Of all Shiluchim, I have the most Baal Teshuvahs.
    ETC.

Well that’s a vary good thing, because anyone who dose not fall under my equal status is a waste.

    After all:
As Chabad Shluchim we have a mission that non Shiluchim dont have.
As Chabadnicks we are the only ones who serve Hashem correctly.
As Chassidik Jews we are the only ones who know how to be happy and Daven correctly.
As Orthodox Jews we are the only ones who are following the Torah.
As Jews we are the chosen nation, and the rest of the world is here to serve us.

I kinda wonder what kind of holy Neshama I have that I got all these privileges.

    Get my vibe yet?
There are many pieces to the puzzle.
We are only one of them.
Grow up, see the light, join THE REST OF THE WORLD and go seek it.

  • Holier Than Thou

What’s the point of this article, I don’t think it is the Chabad way to have the ‘Holier than thou’ attitude.

  • Thank you CH.info

As a regular reader of an Agudah weekly, which makes believe that they are the only voice and active force in protecting Torah, I welcome CH.info’s decision to post the above comment.

Chabad has changed the face of the planet, as Rabbi Sacks so beautifully articulated. Once a year we’re entitled to blow our ‘Shofar’ and reflect on our success.

…and if someone takes note that the Rebbe’s army is a breath of fresh air in comparison with its critics, then Agudah are welcome to review the comment and take note of the positive approach that the Rebbe revolutionized. I’m sure that the Rebbe would have no objection to Agudah ‘stealing’ some of our Simcha and Chayus!!

  • Chabad?

Yes, yes, aavas yisroel is a wonderful thing and there are different ways of serving Hashem etc. But where is your criticism of the rest of the world that feels its a mitzvah to knock and ridicule Chabad?? Until they see how succxesdul they are with all there hafatsah, then they jump on the bandwagon and claim to be the saviors of Klal Yisroel… give me a break!

  • mordechai

This article was written with the intent of putting down another group of Yidden (“my daddy is bigger then your daddy”).
I dont think the Rebbe would have wanted such an article on a so-called lubavitche news website (with saying that, i dont think the Rebbe would have wanted a Lubavitch website at all).

  • gitty goldstein

to #10: did you just post a comment on a website that the Rebbe wouldnt have wanted? you are such a hypocrite..if its so bad, why are you reading and writing to it?

  • Hocheach Tocheach es amisecho

    Dear Editor:

Ridiculous. please post news, not opinions!
This is a blatant way to bash others. To use another persons OPINION (NOT A FACT) to bolster your own of holier than thou.

Make teshuva, everything will be printed and shown to you in oilam haemes acharei meah v’esrim. sinas chinom yoh, ahavas yisroel nisht.

To #3: “values you as the editor have worked so diligently to imbue in your content”? Not sure if you’ve noticed, but a major “value” of this site is precisely to post the most controversial stuff and let arguments break out in the comments. Hey, it brings in the eyeballs and therefore the advertising dollars!

  • ShmirasHaloshon_But Come-on!

First off, I am extremely nizhar with loshon horo, and have several shiurim related to the holy Chofetz Chaim’s work.

Still, I don’t see ANYTHING wrong with this post, even after considering the negative comments.

Come’on! Sometimes a bit of humor brings out a point clearly! This not called ‘at someone’s expense’, sorry.
Aderabeh, it clarifies an approach, a derech, of how to ‘attack’ the problems we all face out there. This article just made quite a difference for me personally!

    Thank you!

  • Shliach from Los Angeles

Posting that comment as an article on ch.info as if it were such a gem is inappropriate. Yes, Chabad tends to take a more positive approach, yet their work is of great importance as well. As the Rebbe said about several matters that Chabad withheld engaging in, that he’s glad others are engaged in that matter, because had nobody been engaged in it, Lubavitch would have to take it upon themselves to wage that battle. Wasn’t it the Rebbe who blasted TV? It’s like calling a surgeon negative because he cuts people up all day and I’m positive because I am a comedian who makes people smile all day.

Thank you Agudas Yisroel for caring enough to engage the problem.

  • OUt of Towner

The difference between Chassidim and Litkvuk, is the way we observe our religion, yes we follow torah & mitavahs, but as chassidim we do so with joy!

  • to gitty

if the Rebbe would oppose commenting online in your view, are you not ashamed to do so?

  • a proud shliach

the speech by Rabbi Sacks that was so praised all had the following line: (paraphrasing)
that a chossid has to be “ess geit ahavas yisroel, ess est ahavas yisroel un ess shloft ahavas yisroel!!!
This post goes against who we are and knocks an organization that has the same goals as us, maybe just a different way to achieve them.

  • Dovid

A sign of insecurity is the need to knock others down. Chabad is good for Lubavitchers, Agudah is good for Yeshivishe. Both faces of Torah are revealing G-dliness in this world.

  • THANK YOU NUMBER 6

Thank you for posting that. It is so true. The shluchim are equal to non shluchim except that they mekarev people in a shul. And Chabad is equal to all other jewish people. Doesnt matter who. We are all humans serving Hashem.

  • brother from the hood

SO TO ALL YOU SNAG LOVERS “ KUSH AH BEAR UNTER ECK ”

  • a melbournite

    To number six: great point
moreover; the derech of mussar is a 100% correct way of serving Hashem, as the Rebeim said. ( I can’t remember which one.)
(However chassidus is even better, nowadays at least.)

  • Coal Shoveler

I saw the original comment, and while it does not belong here, I feel I do need to respond to comment 1 here:

We are also the ones shoveling the coal. But we use that coal to light warming fires. That is why we get to dance.

  • Rivkah

    WRONG TO POST THIS!!!
I really think it should be removed.
What good can come of this?
PLEASE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for what you post on this site. it has repercussions

  • Chabad Ahavas Sinas

    Chabad vs Satmer
    Chabad vs Belz
    Chabad vs Vishnetz
    Chabad vs Livish
Is there something common about this ?

  • SZ

This brings about a major pet peeve of mine. At many shiurim at some point the speaker inevitably compares the Lubavitch derech against someone else, over generalizes about another group and it’s always to raise up Lubavitch at their expense. This gives that message that chas v’shalom, there should be something about other drachim that we could, actually learn from. No, they should learn from us but it only goes one way.

How I understand it, when someone feels the necessity to bring something down in order to raise themselves up, that’s a sign of low confidence. So with so many speakers doing exactly that, what does that say about us as a group?

The Yeshivishe world have a lot they could learn from us but guess what, they have a lot we could learn from also.

#6: “As Jews we are the chosen nation, and the rest of the world is here to serve us”

oy vey how can you say such a thing. That’s racism!!!! Hitler said that his people were the superior race!!! so how can you say that you are better then the rest of the world!!!!! We are all equal!!! we are all the same!!! I don’t konw if HaShem would agree!!!!!

    oy vey!!!

  • Epshtein

A reputable mashpia would tell us in yeshiva that since here in lubavitch we don’t give a damn about Olam Habboa and Gehinem etc but rather we do mitzves cause its the eibershter’s will etc, we therefore grossly underestimate the heat intensity down there because S’VET BRENNEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Conserned yid.

To number 6 my response is Abraham was a goy so we are descendents of goy. Pride and arrogance will make us fall down I’m very concerned about this behavior. It has not an atmosphere of torah and Talmud.
