Leah Rubashkin: “It’s Like Sholom Is in Kollel All Day”

Bais Rebbe Junior High of LA had the honor and privilege of having Mrs. Leah Rubaskin speak to them. Mrs. Rubaskin spoke about the challenges that her family is dealing with as well as their unwavering faith in Hashem.

Mrs.Malka Seewald, Judiac Principal said that meeting Mrs. Rubaskin has left a deep impression on the girls. The students were absolutely amazed at how strong and positive the Rubaskins are despite the current situation.Extra hacholotos were added by the girls in honor of Sholom Mordechai.

Leah said that in Postville Iowa, a big part of Sholom Mordechai’s job was to always make peace between the workers. She jokingly continued that since he did such a good job at it, Hashem wanted him to be the source of peace between all the yidden worldwide. When else in our history have Jews from all walks of life joined together like this? Mrs Rubaskin described how Satmar set up lines of computers in order to enable all those who don’t have internet at home sign the petition.

She continued by saying how hasgacha protis was seen throughout the entire time. From the date of the trial, to what was allowed to enter the courtroom to the prison where SM is currently held.

Following the incredible speech, the girls were given the chance to ask questions. One girl exclaimed how she feels so bad for Sholom Mordechai. Leah replied: “don’t feel bad for him- it is like he is in kollel and davening and learning all day. Another one questioned about when she feels he will be released. With such confidence, Mrs.Rubaskin said that it will happen in the blink of an eye.

Mrs.Rubaskin concluded with heartfelt gratitude to the girls for the tefillos and hachlotos which they took upon themselves in her husband’s honor. May we see his personal geula immediately.

  • Thanks Satmar4 COMPUTERS

Amen vAmen. When I was in yeshiva a mother gave a talk about hardship in Russia for being Jewish and having to hide. This is such a Kiddush Hashem. I also read SM letters’ printed in the American Yated. I feel all Yidden are suffering captivity and torture with SM

  • Benny

Thank G-d we are teaching our kids about the horrors of the world. I think it’s important for them to understand crime and it’s penalties. It’s also important for them to understand that sometimes wolves come dressed in Sherpa clothing. This was a wonderful lesson for my kids and family! Thank you Mrs. Rubashkin

  • I wonder

I wonder if Mrs. Rubashkin told the students that they should not commit crimes. That breaking the law is wrong, and when you do break the law you go to jail.

  • excuse

to #6 i shall answer your question….i am a student in bais rebbe k so i was like there 2she actually did nit mention the crime thing cause if u think her husband was accused of the illegal workers it was not that….it was that they took out to much money from the bank but they got permission but the goverment took it elsewhere and put tonz of charges on him. and by the way UR QUESTION WAS REALLY RUDE

  • Dejected parent

Comment #10 proved the point!!! Thank you! And this is why BCM was wrong to have this speech.

  • same as # 10

oh that is not true we actually gained alot from her and soooo on we loved her speaking btw her emunah was amazing…. # 11

  • Truly inspired

Her speech was so wonderful and inspiring. I think we should get other people who were clearly wrongfully accused to come and speak to the girls. I suggest we call Rabbi Lew to come and speak next. I have heard he is excellent with the female youth.

  • Misguided concern

Wow, #13 They DID break the law. Last time I checked employing ILLEGAL immigrants is, oh I don’t know, ILLEGAL. To the rest of you spending so much time debating what his is or isn’t guilty of, how about we stop and look at what your kids really are learning. Because grammar and spelling sure is not top priority at this school, not based on the 2 examples posted here of “students who were present”.
