Three People Trapped and Injured after Crash
Three people were trapped inside a vehicle after their car was hit be another as they crossed a Schenectady Avenue intersection. A total of four people were hurt.
The crashed occurred at around 4:30pm when a gray Toyota Corolla was traveling on Schenectady Avenue and crossing the intersection of Lefferts Avenue, when a Nissan Maxima broadsided them spinning them around and ending up on a sidewalk.
The impact smashed both passenger side doors closed and bing up on the sidewalk the drivers side doors were blocked as well.
Firefighters and EMS arrived on the scene within minutes of the crash and began working on freeing the three trapped passengers, firefighters had to use the ‘jaws of life’. After around 10 minutes the passengers were freed and loaded up onto a nearby ambulance.
Eyewitnesses said that the driver of the Maxima was speeding and blew through a red light.
While both drivers and two passengers complained of injuries, none of them are being considered life threatening.
