Over 200 attend Hilloula of the Tzadik Baba Sali

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Over 200 men, women and children attended the Hiloula of Baba Sali Ztza”l at Maple Street Shul organized by the Merkaz Sefarad Chabad of Crown Heights this past Monday night, eve of 4 Shevat.

The Hiloula was organized by members of the Merkaz Sepharad Chabad located under the Bais Levi Yitzchok Shul on Crown and Albany, and in particular by Meir Krispine, whose uncle, Rabbi Machlouf Aminadav Krispine, is the son-in-law of Baba Meir and is married to Baba Sali’s grand-daughter.

In addition to a very large and successful turnout by members of the Sephardi community of Crown Heights, guests from Flatbush, Manhattan and even Lakewood, New Jersey came to partake in this special Farbrengen and Hilloula.

The evening was chaired by Rabbi Asher Oiknine, a Chabad Moroccan Rav working in the Syrian and Sephardic community of Flatbush.

The guest speaker at the evening was none other than above mentioned, eminent Goan and Tzadik, Harav Rabbi Machlouf Krispine Shlit”a of Netivot, Israel, who is currently in the USA raising funds for his large Torah network of Yeshivot and Kollels throughout Israel.

Rabbi Krsipine spoke about the holy work of his grandfather the Baba Sali and the special connection between Baba Sali and the Rebbe.

Following Rabbi Krispine, the crowd was addressed by the Rov of the Merkaz Sefarad Chabad, Rabbi Meir Soussan who spoke about the rich and proud heritage of the Moroccan Jewish Community and the special connection of the Rebbe to the Jews of Morocco and of His personal connection with the Baba Sali.

Rabbi Soussan implored all present to increase in their daily studies of Torah and Chassidout so that each of our grandparents and forbearers should be just as proud of each one of us, as we proudly recall the saintliness and holiness of our parents and grandparents.

Musical and liturgical entertainment was provided by Harav Kakon of the Moroccan Jewish Community in Flatbush and Queens.

The Merkaz Sefarad Chabad was established by Harav S.Z. Eliezer Avtzon, in 2007 and is led by the dynamic Rov, Harav Meir Soussan Shlit’a with daily classes in Torah and Chassidout, including separate weekly classes for women.
