7 Children and 2 Drivers Injured in Parkway Crash
CROWN HEIGHTS [CHI] — A collision between a speeding car and a mini school bus resulted in the injury of 7 children along with both drivers. A ‘mass casualty incident’ was declared by emergency medical personnel, and the victims were all transported to a local hospital.
The incident occurred at around 12:30pm in the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Nostrand Avenue. According to eye witnesses the school bus was in the turning lane and waiting to make a left and the sedan was coming opposite the bus which was making the turn and they collided sending both vehicles up onto the sidewalk – narrowly missing many pedestrians.
The school bus was transporting 7 children all of whom were rushed to the hospital, but were reported in stable condition with no serious injuries. The driver of the bus and the driver of the sedan required medical attention as well.
According to the driver of the school bus he claimed that he had a green turn signal and that the driver of the sedan was speeding.
